Terraria is the stuff of dreams for any creative mind out there, with limitless activities and tons of crafting opportunities. Luckily, there are tons of utility items to help players on their journey, like telling them their enemy kill counts or alerting them to any rare ores nearby.

The Tinkerer's Workshop in Terraria makes it possible to combine several utility items to create the legendary Shell Phone, which requires 12 separate tools. This handy gadget has many uses, like allowing players to teleport to four locations: their unique spawn point, their Home, the Ocean, and the Underworld. It also displays many stats that will be useful, no matter if the player enjoys spelunking or grinding mobs. This helpful guide will detail exactly how to craft the amazing Shell Phone in Terraria.

The Cell Phone

Terraria, The Cell Phone ingredients

The Cell Phone has one of the largest crafting trees in Terraria, with several complex items made up of several other rare components. Players will need a Tinker's Workshop crafting station, a Magic/Ice Mirror and a PDA, to make the Cell Phone.

It can be quite a long process for the player to gather all the necessary equipment. However, while adventuring and killing enemies, players should naturally gather some of the components without the need to grind for them.

Ice & Magic Mirror

These two mirrors perform the same function, allowing players to teleport to their spawn or home points when activated. The Magic Mirror is more common and can be found in Chests within Underground Cabins in any biome. Ice Mirrors are limited to the Snow biome and Ice Chests.

PDA

The PDA is time-consuming as many of its components are rarely dropped by mobs. It is comprised of GPS, Goblin Tech, R.E.K. 3000, and the Fish Finder. The table below details each aspect of the PDA and how to obtain it.

PDA

Ingredients & How To Make

GPS

  • Depth Meter - Dropped by Bats, Salamanders, Giant Shelly
  • Compass - Dropped by Crawdad, Snow Flinx, Mimics, Giant Shelly, Vikings
  • Gold/Platinum Watch - Crafted at a Table/Chair with 10 Gold/Platinum Bars and 1 Chain

Goblin Tech

  • Metal Detector - Dropped by the Nymph/Lost Girl enemy
  • DPS Meter - Purchased from the Traveling Merchant NPC for 5 gold
  • Stopwatch - Purchased from the Traveling Merchant NPC for 5 gold

R.E.K. 3000

  • Tally Counter - Dropped from Dungeon enemies (Angry Bones, Dark Casters, Cursed Skulls)
  • Lifeform Analyzer - Purchased from the Traveling Merchant NPC for 5 gold
  • Radar - Can be found in Surface chests in any biome

Fish Finder

  • Fisherman's Pocket Guide - All three items are rewards from the Angler's Fishing Quests, with a 3% chance of being obtained
  • Weather Radio - All three items are rewards from the Angler's Fishing Quests, with a 3% chance of being obtained
  • Sextant - All three items are rewards from the Angler's Fishing Quests, with a 3% chance of being obtained

Once players have assembled all of these items, they can combine them at the Tinkerer's Workshop to finally make the PDA. This can then be combined with the Magic Mirror to create the Cell Phone at the Tinkerer's Workshop, which has many bonuses.

Magic Conch

Terraria, Magic Conch

The Magic Conch is useful for Fishing Quests, as it teleports the player to the Ocean further from the player's location. However, they can rarely be found in Sandstone Chests in the Underground Desert. They can also be found in Oasis/ Mirage Chests randomly fished from the Desert biome.

They only have drop rates of 8-14% and, therefore, can be difficult for players to come by.

Demon Conch

Terraria, Demon Conch

The Demon Conch is extremely rare and can only be found by fishing in Lava, using a Lavaproof Fishing Hook or the Hotline Hook. When the Demon Conch is used, it will teleport the player straight to the center of the Underworld after a short cast time.

It negates the need for hell-evators in the players' world, saving traveling time. Players should have platforms or a landing pad built to avoid immediately dropping into Lava when the Demon Conch has been used.

Crafting The Shellphone

Terraria, Cell Phone, Magic Conch, Demon Conch, Shell Phone

Once the player has gathered their necessary materials (The Cell Phone, Magic Conch, and Demon Conch) in their inventory, they can move onto the final step. The Shellphone can then be crafted at a Tinkerer's Workshop. As the in-game tooltip says, the Shell Phone "displays everything." This legendary creation amalgamates all the previous functions of its individual ingredients, combining them into one item, as detailed in the table below.

Item Name

Description

Shell Phone

  • Current in-game time
  • Moon phase
  • Weather
  • DPS
  • Total kill count for last enemy type
  • Rare creatures nearby

If players right-click or interact with the Shellphone, they will be able to teleport to their Spawn, Home, an Ocean biome or the center of the Underworld
