Though Terraria may not have an official release date for Patch 1.4.5 yet, the developers showcased some of the features that players can expect in the new update. Initially released in 2011, Terraria has seen numerous updates over the years, while its success and popularity cemented the indie title as one of the best-selling video games of all time. The main appeal of Terraria is its focus on exploration and combat, presented in a charming pixel art style, and fueled by a powerful procedural generation system.

Journey's End in Terraria was expected to be the final update of the game, but many players knew it was only a matter of time until Re-Logic released a new patch. Since then, Terraria has seen four new content updates, with a fifth one on the way. The current Labor of Love update for Terraria presents a highly polished experience that players can enjoy on a wide list of platforms. However, there are a few exciting additions coming in Patch 1.4.5.

Terraria Patch 1.4.5 Sneak Peek

Re-Logic published a State of the Game post on the official Terraria forums, and one of the topics included a sneak peek into the quality-of-life features that Patch 1.4.5 is expected to add. Most players who have fought enemies in the many biomes of Terraria probably have mixed feelings about banners. While they are a great cosmetic item that can tie a room together, or finish up a balcony or roof, banners also tend to clutter up the inventory or awkwardly remain as drops in the overworld. Patch 1.4.5 will add a dedicated window for claiming banners, effectively solving their only issue.

On top of the banner claiming window, the base building in Terraria will also get even more convenient with the addition of roller skates. These will allow players to slowly move along a line of blocks or platforms and thus be able to expand it without a fear of falling down. Furthermore, they will also mimic the use of Minecarts in Terraria when interacting with a minecart track.

While not mentioned in the post itself, Patch 1.4.5 is expected to also include a crossover with Dead Cells, several new whips, new boss music for enemies like Skeletron, the Eater of Worlds, or the Twins, as well as new mounts in Terraria. The developers claim that the update will be ready "when it's ready," but have previously hinted that 2024 could be one of the best years for the game.
