Summary

  • Tetris Forever will include 14 classic Tetris titles, as well as one all-new game.
  • Some games included in the compilation are being released outside of Japan for the first time.
  • Tetris Forever will also offer bonus content, including a virtual museum and over 90 minutes of new documentary footage.

The full list of titles set to appear in Tetris Forever has been revealed ahead of the game's release in 2024. Developed by Digital Eclipse, Tetris Forever will include both familiar entries and some previously only available in Japan, with the compilation celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary puzzle game.

First announced during a Nintendo Direct stream in August 2024, Tetris Forever will serve as both a game compilation and a documentary delving into the development and legacy of one of the most popular puzzle games in gaming history. Originally developed for the Soviet-built Electronika 60 in 1984, the original game only became a household name in 1989 after its release for the Game Boy, with Tetris selling over 35 million copies for the handheld console alone. Over 220 official versions of the game have been released over the past four decades, and its influence is impossible to ignore. Digital Eclipse seeks to honor the franchise's extensive history with Tetris Forever, a comprehensive collection of games and bonus content.

Ahead of the game's release sometime in 2024, Digital Eclipse has revealed the full lineup of games to be included in Tetris Forever, including some titles making their official debut outside of Japan. Players will have a chance to experience everything from the original Electronika 60 version of the game to Tetris Battle Gaiden, a multiplayer battle title first released for the Super Famicom in 1993. Several versions of Super Bombliss are also included in Tetris Forever's lineup, known in North America and Europe as Tetris Blast. The title tasks players with placing bombs along with the standard gameplay loop of creating rows out of falling colored shapes.
