Players should probably try out most of the other characters in Texas Chain Saw Massacre before giving Hitchhiker a shot. His ability, Trap, requires knowing where all of the major entrances and exits are. Since his Savagery attribute is extremely low, gamers will depend on correct trap placements to make this family member flourish.
The good news is that the payoff is significant. Hitchhiker can place traps early and then take care of generators, feed Grandpa, and support the attacking family members in the meantime. Experts of Texas Chain Saw Massacre love what Hitchhiker brings to the table with the right build.
Skill Tree
Go straight at the first branch of the skill tree and then make three right turns. This will pick up two of the three perks that Hitchhiker needs to be most successful. For the third perk, Dinner Bell, get it from a random skill node. If players finish the skill tree and don't get Dinner Bell, respec for free and simply try again until getting this perk.
Perks aside, this route makes Hitchhiker one of the better family members since he'll pick up 32 attribute points along the way. He'll be able to capitalize on what makes him special with this path and teammates will understand Hitchhiker's purpose within the family.
Perks
- Dinner Bell
- Tracker Tagged
- Blood Banker
- Grandpa Ability - Always In Sync
Dinner Bell is designed especially for Hitchhiker, highlighting victims for a bit while giving himself a burst of stamina. This alone enables him to catch up to a victim and get some hits in. He may not hit hard, but even Hitchhiker can take out the best victims while they're caught in one of his traps.
Since Hitchhiker doesn't always hit hard, Tracker Tagged will alert allies by highlighting anyone that he attacks. This works in perfect tandem with the best Leatherface build or another family member who can dish out loads of damage to a staggered opponent.
Attributes
- Endurance: +22
- Blood Harvesting: +10
No amount of buffing Savagery will make Hitchiker's melee attacks more significant so it's best to leave that attribute alone. Maxing out Endurance is a good first step since Hitchhiker will want to be running back and forth between traps and feeding Grandpa.
Blood Harvesting is great for Hitchhiker as well. Not only will he get more blood to feed Grandpa with but his attacks against victims will also give him more blood. Even when Hitchhiker's blows don't kill the targets, he'll have more blood from the altercation, allowing him to support the team and finish the job.
Ability Modifiers
- Level 1: Increase Escape Difficulty
- Level 2: Increase Escape Difficulty
- Level 3: All Family See Noise
The first two levels going toward Increase Escape Difficulty will keep victims in place until Hitchhiker can arrive on the scene. A victim stuck in a trap is about as close to a free kill as it gets, regardless of how hard-hitting the family member is.
This is why All Family See Noise is perfect for when playing with friends or strangers. Not only will Hitchhiker get pinged when a trap goes off but so will everyone else. Hitchhiker might not hit incredibly hard but the rest of the family will be able to immediately eliminate a victim caught in Hitchhiker's traps.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
