The action is almost non-stop in The Alters once you get the base up and running. Not only has your entire crew died, but the sun of this planet is rising, and it will kill you immediately when it breaks the horizon.
With only a couple of days and not a whole lot of options, you need to come up with some solutions quickly, but there appears to be only one: clone yourself and put that alter to work to help you survive The Alters' challenges. First, however, you'll need to wake him up.
How to Increase Base Size in The Alters
Upgrading your base size is incredibly important in The Alters to keep on top of the various resources and modules you need. Here's how to do it.
How to Wake Alters in The Alters
After interacting with the Quantum Computer for the first time, you'll notice that Ally Corp, the massive corporation that is front-and-center in one of the main themes of The Alters, has copied down every major event in your life like it's the outline of a book. The mysterious voice on the phone has told you that you need to use this machine to clone yourself, and you don't get much choice in the matter. If you don't, you will die.
So, you will branch off to make yourself into a technician to help you get the engines started again. Unfortunately, you might be wondering what the next step is. In order to wake up your new alter, you need to head to The Womb where you met the sheep, Molly. Your alter will be inside the same machine that Molly was in the same location, unless you have changed the layout of your base already. You will have to use the interact button to wake him up.
What Happens After You Wake Jan Technician in The Alters?
Once other Jan is awake, you will have a conversation with him. Depending on what choices you pick in this conversation, you will both either start off on a bad foot or a horrible foot. Here are the best choices you can make when talking to Jan Technician for the first time.
- Relax. You're in a lab.
- I'm Jan Dolski.
- No, it's not.
- Yes, you can put it that way.
- I wouldn't wake you up.
- I understand you're angry, but I need your help.
- You'd do the same.
- Maybe. But we're in this together.
Keeping this particular alter happy is quite a challenge; more than the other alters, he has quite a temper. He also gives you one of the more interesting additional dialogue selections in the future; if you follow his story line, he will unlock Assertiveness in The Alters for your Jan.
