Towards the beginning of The Alters players will be tasked with making Pierogi to try and improve the relationship between Jan and his first Alter, Jan Technician. The problem is, some players may find that, for one reason or another, they don't have the ingredients or that the option to make them in the kitchen doesn't appear again once they've been made the first time. In this guide, I'll quickly go over everything players need to know about Pierogi ingredients in The Alters and why they can't make them again.
How to Increase Qubit Level in The Alters
Increasing the Qubit Level in The Alters opens up a ton of new options for players. Here's how to do it.
What Are the Pierogi Ingredients in The Alters?
An Easy Recipe
The ingredients to make Pierogi in The Alters is two Raw Food. Players should have this already in their inventory, from the beginning of the game (represented by the carrot icon on the resources bar). To make the Pierogi, interact with the large vertical panel by the back wall. This will then give players the option to make the Pierogi with the two Raw Food that they have. Select these and prepare them by interacting with the stove. They take one hour of in-game time to make, which is relatively quick compared to other production tasks in the game.
Once this is done, walk over to the seating area in the back left corner of the Kitchen module and interact with the pink icon on the HUD. This will trigger a cutscene where Jan and his Technician Alter will eat the Pierogi together and bond over shared experiences and memories.
Players should already have the Raw Food required to make the Pierogi at this stage in the game, as there is no way to otherwise use the Raw Food that players start the game with. However, after this point, Raw Food can be produced in the Greenhouse module of the base.
Can Pierogi be Made Again in The Alters?
A One-Time Thing
Unfortunately, players can only make Pierogi once at the beginning of the game for Jan Technician to improve their relationship. After this, players will only be able to make Mush or Cooked Meals in the Kitchen. I've outlined the requirements for each of these below.
|
Food |
Ingredients |
How Long to Make |
|---|---|---|
|
Mush |
5 Organics |
30 minutes |
|
Cooked Meal |
1 Raw Food |
20 minutes |
While Mush is 'cheaper' because Organics are generally faster to extract and easier to come by, cooked meals will improve the meal of a player's Alters. However, the time it takes to grow Raw Food is extensive and can be tricky to manage initially when a number of resources are in constant demand. One of the first Alters players should get is the Botanist, as they have +100% efficiency when growing crops in the Greenhouse, massively reducing the time taken to produce Raw Food. This way, players can keep their Alters well-fed and happy with Cooked Meals.
