In The Alters, there are several different kinds of resources that you will require to make everything you need to survive. In the Prologue, the game introduced you to the three most important ones: metals, Rapidium, and organics.
But there is another item that becomes even more important in Act 1 of The Alters to help you build the bridge, and that is minerals. In order to get as many as you need, you will have to dig deep.
How to Increase Base Size in The Alters
Upgrading your base size is incredibly important in The Alters to keep on top of the various resources and modules you need. Here's how to do it.
How to Get More Minerals In Act 1 of The Alters
There are several locations to pick up minerals in Act 1 of The Alters, two surface deposits and one deep mine that you can access to get all the minerals you need. The minerals you can pick up are scattered at random throughout the map, and they do respawn on occasion. The surface deposits are the larger groups of minerals on the surface; these will look like the screenshot below.
There is one horde of minerals under the surface that you will have to dig by setting up a mining outpost and the pylons that will connect it to the base. This mineral deposit is located here on the map in this beautiful survival game:
There is a surface deposit nearby too, so if you are in desperate need and don't have enough pylons to connect back to the base, you can head here on the map:
How to Drill for Minerals in The Alters
In order to get to it, you will need to treat it like metal or organic deep deposits in The Alters. Once you see the icon for it pop up on the screen, you will need to use the scanners just as you do with the metals and organics. Once you find the location with the biggest deposit, set up a mining outpost on top of it; there will only be one location where you can build it.
Next, you have to connect the mining outpost back to the ship with pylons. Build as many as you have to in order to get back to the base or get back to another, already connected pylon. After that, everything should be setup, so all you need to do is assign an alter to the mineral deposit or work some hours at it yourself. Keep in mind that the mining outposts are also locations where you can recharge your suit or fast travel back to the base in this combination social and survival game.
