Summary
- TBATE novel will be on hiatus in June 2025, with no new chapters posted on Patreon.
- Fans are still not satisfied with the quality of the TBATE anime adaptation.
- Despite criticism, the anime may improve in potential second seasons if production team takes feedback seriously.
Fans of The Beginning After the End will have to wait a few weeks to read a new chapter of the novel, as it will be on a break in June. The Beginning After the End (TBATE) is currently one of the most popular web novels on Tapas, and it is being adapted into an anime during this season.
While the anime, available on Crunchyroll, has been a disappointment for many fans, the novel and the webcomic adaptation still keep most of them engaged, as the story itself is very interesting, and may attract most isekai fans — the way things have turned out for the anime is quite unfortunate.
5 Things The Beginning After The End Anime Changes From The Web Novel
In The Beginning After The End, several key details from the web novel have been changed. This list shows those with the biggest impact.
TBATE Will Be on Hiatus in June
TurtleMe, the author of the series, announced on social media that the novel will be on a break in June 2025. He explained that he needs time to write chapters, as the series will soon enter its final arc. He added that no new chapters will be posted on Patreon in June, and that members should feel free to pause their membership for the month. While he didn't give a return date, it seems he plans to return in July.
Since Patreon subscribers likely receive new chapters before they are released on Tapas, it isn't clear if there will be no new chapter on Tapas next month. The story is currently on Episode 1548 (which is the last part of Chapter 508), and the following chapter will drop within a few days. This break will likely not affect the webcomic serialization, as the comic adaptation is chapters behind the original novel. Either way, this is just an informal break, and the series will return soon.
TBATE Anime Is Still Under Fire
After a bad start, the amount of hate towards the anime adaptation of TBATE seems to have decreased, but fans on Reddit are still not satisfied with the animation. Although they commented that the quality has improved when compared to the first episodes, most fans still think that the anime is subpar. It's not common for anime to improve quality mid-season, so it might indicate that the production team is taking the criticism seriously and trying to fix a few things in the series.
Anyway, even if the team is trying hard, it's difficult to make significant changes mid-season without compromising the production. While there are still fair chances that the anime will be canceled after this season, it could be a sign that they will keep investing in the series and deliver better animation in a potential second season.
The Beginning After the End is available to stream on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in English and other languages.
