If you are an FPS enthusiast, you can now start a private match in The Finals Season 2. This feature has been highly requested since the title’s launch late last year. Considering the fresh season comes barely a couple of months later, and it has brought in multiple changes that have the community talking, Embark Studios’ efforts seem to be paying off.

Before, players were limited to a team of three for the two modes available, and there were only public lobbies to play in. With the content update that dropped on March 14, you can get together with more friends and hold your own private match in The Finals Season 2.

Currently, only two modes are available for private matches in The Finals Season 2: Quick Cash and Bank It. These two have been present since the game’s launch, and the community is well-versed with them. If you were hoping to play the new 5v5 mode, Power Shift, with friends, that's a no-go right now. You also won't gain any XP or level progression here, so any private matches played will not help with ranked tournaments in The Finals.

Player Count in Private Matches

Player details in a Private Match in The Finals Season 2

Right now, a private match in The Finals Season 2 can hold up to 12 players. If needed, the match can be started early with just six as well.

There’s a system for how standard three-person squads will be created here. If all the players joining in are solo, teams will be created based on the order they enter. As such, the first three will be in one group, the next three will be in another, and so on. On the other hand, if someone is already a part of a three-person squad when joining a private match in The Finals Season 2, they will bring the entire team along. That will be their line-up for the lobby as well as the match itself.

Future Updates for Private Matches

The Finals Season 2: Power Shift mode for Private Match

In a YouTube livestream on March 15, Embark Studios’ Community Lead Oscar Lundberg also talked about the content that will make its way to The Finals later on, particularly private matches. Although no set roadmap was announced, he explained that the developer is dedicated to enriching the player experience.

The private match current iteration is bare bones at the moment. It has been pushed at this stage so that fans can engage in whatever they wish. Eventually, new maps, the Power Shift game mode in The Finals Season 2, and many other features will be added. Lundberg also talked about the possibility of players being able to change teams in the lobby.

With the new content update, fresh gadgets and guns have been added to the game, a specialization removed (Recon Senses), and other items like the C4 have been balanced. Considering the changes brought in The Finals Season 2, good things seem to be in store for Embark Studios' FPS title.
