Gear plays a crucial role in every action RPG. As the story in The First Berserker: Khazan progresses, tougher enemies and bosses become a challenge, especially if your equipment is underleveled. Fortunately, players don’t always need to farm for drops, as weapons and armor can be upgraded or crafted. The Blacksmith becomes available early, but crafting and dismantling gear requires a few steps first.
The First Berserker: Khazan Timeline Explained
The First Berserker: Khazan is part of the same timeline as Dungeon Fighter Online, but makes one major divergence in its story.
To access crafting, players must gather specific materials and unlock blueprints through progression. This guide explains everything you need to know about crafting gear in The First Berserker: Khazan.
How to Unlock the Blacksmith In The First Berserker: Khazan
Qazumaka, the Blacksmith, is a Bantu who first appears during the fifth mission in Skoffa Cave. Your main objective in this mission is to fight through the perilous cave filled with spiders and poison swamps. At the end of the mission, you will face a boss, and after defeating it, Qazumaka will be saved and relocate to the Crevice. You can find him near Oksana, but even though he has now appeared in the hub area, he won’t start crafting gear immediately.
To unlock his services, you must retrieve the Blacksmith’s Hammer, an heirloom he lost within the caves. This unlocks a new region called Spiders' Tomb, which is an altered version of Skoffa Cave. Here, you’ll encounter Bearius, the boss of this bonus mission. Bearius is similar to the other bear enemies encountered throughout the game and should not pose much of a challenge in combat. Once you defeat it and complete the mission, you will obtain the Blacksmith’s Hammer, which you can then return to Qazumaka.
How to Craft Gear at the Blacksmith In The First Berserker: Khazan
The Blacksmith allows players to craft gear, consumables, and materials, making him an essential part of upgrading your equipment. However, at the start, you will likely be unable to craft most of the gear he offers due to the required materials. To gather more resources, you can use the dismantle tab to break down unwanted armor pieces, which will provide useful crafting materials.
This makes dismantling old or duplicate gear a great way to prepare for future upgrades rather than relying solely on enemy drops.
In addition to crafting standard gear, the Blacksmith can also forge entire armor sets for you, but only if you acquire the necessary Blueprints. These Blueprints must be brought to him before he can craft that specific set. They can be obtained in two main ways—by defeating certain bosses for the first time or by finding them as loot in various areas across different regions.
After completing the Bonus Mission "Kaleido," you can head back to Oksana, who will allow you to Augment Gear. This feature lets you select a weapon or armor of your choice and level it up by merging a different weapon into it. This process costs Gold.
