Gley has always been one of the go-to gun Descendants in The First Descendant and is still a great choice, especially when it comes to dealing with bosses in Void Intercept Battles. Her skill set is quite unique, so you need the right Modules, weapons, and stats across the board to make her work.
The First Descendant Tier List
This tier list ranks all of the available characters in The First Descendant, helping you choose the right Descendant to protect Ingris.
This guide breaks down everything you need to know to build Gley in The First Descendant, including Modules, weapons, Reactors, and External Components.
Gley Ability Overview In The First Descendant
Gley is a vampire-esque character in The First Descendant. She switches between two states to consume HP, deal damage, and then recover HP as she defeats enemies. This playstyle can make her quite fragile on the battlefield, especially if you don't pay attention to her abilities.
Here's what each of her abilities do:
- Frenzied: In the Frenzied state, increases Firearm ATK and Penetration but reduces HP Recovery.
- Life Siphon: Deal damage within range and recover HP based on the number of enemies hit. In Frenzied state, deals damage proportionally to HP. In the Non-Frenzied state, gains Vigor, decreasing incoming damage.
- Increased Sensory: In the Frenzied state, grants Maximize Lethality, during which bullets aren't consumed. In the Non-Frenzied state, grants Maximize Recovery, during which Life Sphere generation is increased.
- Massacre: Equip a Unique Weapon. The number of bullets depends on the number of Power of Life stacks. In the Frenzied state, Massacre increases its damage proportionally to HP. In the Non-Frenzied state, Massacre stuns enemies.
- Thirst (passive): Doesn't have shield or MP. Defeated enemies have a chance to drop Life Spheres that grant Power of Life stacks (maximum 10) and recover HP.
Casting most of her skills consumes HP. Having too little HP will prevent you from using the skill.
The First Descendant: Best Malevolent Build
A battle pass weapon that's actually good! Here's everything you need to know about Malevolent and how to build it in The First Descendant.
Best Gley Build In The First Descendant
The core of this build is to loop Increased Sensory with Massacre for constant infinite ammo. It's primarily aimed at dealing with bosses in Void Intercept Battles, but you can also use a Launcher, and take this build into a dungeon. To achieve this seamless loop and deal decent damage, this build requires a lot of investment in Gley and her weapons.
Best Modules For Gley In The First Descendant
Modules in this build focus on lowering skill cooldown and increasing skill duration, ensuring that Increased Sensory has a 100% uptime. This is followed by Modules with stats that increase raw ability damage, like Dimension Skill Power Modifier and Non-Attribute Skill Power.
The Transcendent Module in this build is Massive Sanguification. While it doesn't directly affect Increased Sensory or Massacre, it allows you to instantly gain the necessary Power of Life stacks to activate Massacre, even when there are no enemies around. It also offers an additional source of survivability.
Here are the recommended Modules for Gley:
|
Module |
Effect |
|---|---|
|
Massive Sanguification |
Modifies Life Siphon to allow the absorption of Life Spheres in Non-Frenzied state |
|
Increased HP |
Increases Max HP |
|
MP Conversion |
Reduces Skill Cooldown and Max MP |
|
Nimble Fingers |
Reduces Skill Cooldown |
|
Maximize Duration |
Increases Skill Duration but reduces Skill Power Modifier |
|
Skill Extension |
Increases Skill Duration |
|
Focus on Dimension |
Increases Dimension Skill Power Modifier and reduces Skill Cooldown |
|
Focus on Non-Attribute |
Increases Non-Attribute Skill Power and reduces Skill Cooldown |
|
Dimension Amplification |
Increases Dimension Skill Power Modifier but reduces Skill Critical Hit Damage |
|
Non-Attribute Amplification |
Increases Non-Attribute Skill Power but reduces Skill Critical Hit Damage |
For mobbing, you can focus on Skill Range instead of Duration to empower Massive Sanguification. However, it won't be as good as Freyna or Bunny in content like 400% Infiltration Operations. Ultimate Gley with Explosive Life is a far superior option.
Best Weapons For Gley In The First Descendant
Massacre uses the equipped weapon's stats, so maxing out your gun is equally important as building Gley herself. The go-to weapon for this build is Python, thanks to its high fire rate and Weak Point Damage multiplier. Build Python as you would for bossing, prioritizing Weak Point Damage and attribute damage.
Here are some of the Modules to use for the Python build:
|
Module |
Effect |
|---|---|
|
Rifling Reinforcement |
Increases Firearm ATK |
|
Action and Reaction |
Increases Firearm ATK and Recoil |
|
Charge Amplification |
Increases Firearm ATK but reduces Firearm Critical Hit Damage |
|
Weak Point Sight |
Increases Weak Point Damage |
|
Fire Rate UP |
Increases Fire Rate |
|
Toxic Enhancement |
Increases Toxic ATK based on Firearm ATK |
|
Poison Priority |
Increases Toxic ATK but reduces Reload Time Modifier |
The list features Modules that increase Toxic ATK, but feel free to replace them with an attribute you need for a specific activity.
Best Reactors For Gley In The First Descendant
Massacre is a Dimension ability, so you need a Materialized Phase Reactor with a submachine gun mounting. Even if you decide to run a mobbing build at some point, you'll still need this Reactor. The stats on the Reactor are also important to reach that perfect ability loop.
Here are the stats to look for on the Reactor:
- Skill Duration UP
- Skill Cooldown
- Dimension Skill Power Boost Ratio
- Non-Attribute Skill Power Boost Ratio
Best External Components For Gley In The First Descendant
External Components are your main source of sustainability, but in this case, the set is also important. At the very least, you should get a two-piece Annihilation Set to increase Skill Duration. Annihilation Set drops from the Devourer Void Intercept Battle and 400% Infiltration Operations.
