Nexon reveals free in-game rewards coming to The First Descendant, giving players a limited time to pick them up over the weekend. It's been a busy week for Nexon's free-to-play looter shooter, The First Descendant. The game continues to maintain its major popularity since launching early in July, and this week in particular saw a massive new update finally arrive.

On July 31, The First Descendant released Update 1.5, a significant patch for the game which introduced new content that included characters Luna and Ultimate Valby, a Hard level Intercept battle with a boss named Gluttony, as well as an ultimate weapon, and a module to track down. In addition to more summer-themed store products, Update 1.5 also made big gameplay changes, buffing certain characters like Valby and Freyna, fixing issues, as well as many other quality of life tweaks. To celebrate the game's latest update, Nexon has announced free rewards that all players can check out for a limited time over the next few days.

Over on the official Twitter page, Nexon revealed a new round of free in-game rewards for all players. Similar to the free compensation rewards The First Descendant released due to the game's launch issues, players can pick up a variety of XP and resource boosts for Gold and Kyper shards over the next few days. Specifically, starting on Friday, August 2 and running until August 8, players can visit their mailbox in Albion to secure these 4 boosts. Keep in mind that once they've been claimed, the boosts will remain active for three days from their activation date.

Unfortunately, as part of the announcement, Nexon confirmed that its upcoming Hotfix for The First Descendant has been delayed slightly. While there isn't a confirmed date yet, Nexon revealed that the delay was ultimately caused due to expanding the hotfix to include additional issues, though the post did not go into any further details. Some players believe the recent exploits surrounding The First Descendant's tank character Kyle, could have been one of the recent inclusions to the hotfix.

Update 1.5 is just the first major update Nexon has planned as earlier in July, the developer revealed a content roadmap for The First Descendant. While things could change, the roadmap revealed plans for updates and content throughout the rest of 2024, with Season 1 rapidly approaching a late August launch date followed by Season 2 sometime in December. As expected, each season will contain multiple updates as well as new campaign episodes with new characters to unlock, enemies to fight, skins, and plenty more.

The First Descendant is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter featuring high-quality graphics created in Unreal Engine 5.

Players become a Descendant whose mission is to combat alien invaders – The Vulgus who crossed dimensions over 100 years ago and brought with them the devastating Colossi and destruction – for the survival of humanity and to protect Albion and the continent of Ingris. Players will encounter spectacular stories of forces fighting over the Iron Heart as they grow stronger through various missions and raids.
