Void Intercept battles are an essential part of your playthrough in The First Descendant. If you want to progress towards the end game or unlock the next region, then you'll have to beat colossus-level monsters through Void Intercept Battles. There are over eight different Void Intercept battles, each of them posing a different challenge that you'll have to overcome.

Among the many Void Intercept bosses in The First Descendant, one of the most difficult ones to defeat is called the Swamp Walker. The Swamp Walker is the level 82 colossus, and similar to the Devourer, is well-equipped with various Toxin-based attacks. So, here's a complete breakdown of how to beat the Swamp Walker.

The Swamp Walker is the seventh Void Intercept boss that you'll have to beat in order to unlock the Fortress region in The First Descendant. While it isn't as aggressive as the other Void Intercept bosses because of its slow speed, it is still one of the most difficult bosses to beat because of its massive health pool.

Swamp Walker Resistances

The Swamp Walker has multiple Toxin attacks in his arsenal which not only deal a lot of damage but also leave a Toxin puddle that inflicts poison debuff if you step on it. Having a minimum of 2,600 Toxin Resistance is essential for surviving the onslaughts of these poisonous attacks. Like every Toxin monster in The First Descendant, the Swamp Walker is also weak to Electric-type damage, thus having Electric ATK modifiers, and Descendants is an absolute must.

Swamp Walker Weak Points

Apart from knowing which attacks deal more damage, you should also know which parts to target so that you can shred through Swamp Walker's massive health pool. So, here's all the weak points of the Swamp Walker Colossus:

  • Helmet (Destructible) - Located on its Head
  • Sensor (Destructible) - Located on its Shoulders
  • Core Cover (Destructible) - Located on its Chest
  • Brain (Removable) - Located on its Head
  • Shell (Removable) - Located on its Shoulders
  • Core (Removable) - Located on its Chest

Among all the weak points, it's best to target the Core, followed by the Sensors. The Helmet has the smallest hitbox, and more often than not, you'll miss your shots if you try to hit it.

Swamp Walker Attacks, Explained

The attacks of the Swamp Walker are quite easy to deal with and can be, in most cases, dodged. This requires you to have good timing and positioning to ensure that none of the attacks knock you down. Here's a more detailed breakdown of each attack and how you can counter them:

  1. Machine Guns: This is the most common attack you'll encounter when up against the Swamp Walker. During this, both the Machine Guns on the Swamp Walker's hand will start shooting a stream of bullets towards your location. You can momentarily save yourself by hiding behind structures, but they will break after a few shots from this attack. Regardless, you can dodge this quite easily by rolling.
  2. Regular Missiles: The Swamp Walker has two missile attacks in its arsenal, and you'll face the regular ones more often. These missiles are shot towards you and can break through structures. If you're well-geared, you can tank a few shots from this attack. But, in most cases, you should dodge them by double jumping or rolling.
  3. Toxin Missiles: Unlike the previous attack, these green missiles are much more tricky to deal with. Not only does this deal more damage than its regular counterpart, but it also leaves toxin puddles which can deal a lot of damage if not dodged. If you're knocked down by this attack, your squad members can't revive you as long as you're in the toxin puddle. So, start rolling whenever you're targeted by this attack.
  4. Toxin Blasts: Apart from the machine guns, there's another attack from the Swamp Walker's guns, which are two consecutive blasts. These relatively slow-moving green bombs follow you to your location and deal explosive damage, while also leaving toxin puddles. However, you can hide behind structures to protect yourself from this attack.

Even though it may seem all the attacks are easy to dodge, your focus should be on the battle's timer. Dodging the attacks, toxin puddles, and red lava takes up so much time that you'll run out of time before you can reduce the boss' HP to zero.

Swamp Walker Rage Mode

In comparison to other Void Intercept Bosses, the Swamp Walker's Rage mode is quite easy to deal with if you can act quickly. When the rage gauge of this boss fills up, it will go into a state of frenzy, while also being immune to all kinds of damage.

During this phase, you can attack the green canisters that spawn on its legs. Breaking all the canisters ends the Rage Mode, so the faster you do it, the better it is for you.

You can use your Ecive Scanner at the start of the battle to get a visual of the boss's rage gauge, as well as weak points. This can help you prepare for the Rage Mode, as you need to get closer before the frenzy begins.
