Summary

  • Nexon is adding a dedicated photo mode to The First Descendant based on community feedback.
  • Photo mode has been one of the most requested features, though these isn't a release date yet.
  • Future plans include Season 2 content, a pity system for loot drops, and quality of life changes.

During a community question and answer session, Nexon reveals that it is working on adding a dedicated photo mode to The First Descendant. Following its release over the summer, The First Descendant quickly became a major hit for Nexon, even before the first season of content launched.

Part of the reason for the game's success is how quickly the studio responded to issues or community complaints. Feedback became a key aspect of Nexon's post-launch update cycle, as the studio continued to keep an eye on what fans enjoyed and didn't. Nexon was even willing to change portions of the game in response to player feedback, making the cryo sniper Hailey much easier to unlock in The First Descendant after players found it to be overly difficult.

During its latest Q&A session with the community over Discord, Nexon revealed some of the upcoming features it has planned, including bringing the highly requested photo mode into the game. After receiving multiple questions about the feature, Nexon confirmed that the studio is in active discussions regarding photo mode, though when it could be added is still undecided. While Photo Mode may not be a priority add, the studio certainly aims to please The First Descendant community, so this is an easy way to do just that.

Nexon Reveals Future Plans for The First Descendant

A photo mode is just the beginning of what Nexon has planned. In fact, Season 2 of The First Descendant is now less than a month away, bringing with it more content, unlockable characters, and the next piece of the game's story. Not only that, Nexon is planning additional quality of life changes to the experience, teasing grappling hook and mobility changes as well.

However, Nexon is also planning on adding a pity system for its loot drops, giving players a way to guarantee incredibly rare resources. Known as the Target Reward system, rare items that drop from Amorphous Materials in The First Descendant are now guaranteed after players complete a set number of attempts without any luck getting them to drop normally. The system is similar to other gacha style games like Zenless Zone Zero, which guarantee certain character ranks after a set number of banner pulls have been completed.
