To survive in The Last of Us 2, you will need to use every tool at your disposal. With limited ammunition and hordes of deadly enemies standing between you and your goal, every shot and every weapon can mean the difference between life and death. The Last of Us 2 will rarely hang players out to dry, often placing weapons along the path to ensure you are fully equipped for the more difficult encounters. Still, some highly impactful weaponry can be found earlier or missed altogether if players aren’t thorough enough.

This guide will show you where to find all Weapons and Upgrades as early as they can be obtained to ensure you earn the “High Caliber” The Last of Us 2 achievement. This article contains mild spoilers for Chapter titles and locations, which may give away the narrative direction and chronology of The Last of Us 2, so proceed with caution.

With Ellie's Semi-Automatic Pistol and Bolt Action Rifle already in hand, Ellie will grab a familiar Revolver from a house at the end of the Jackson chapter. During Packing Up, head upstairs and take the Revolver from a shoebox on the bed.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown: Pump Action Shotgun Location

Now, all you need is a way to deal with enemies up close and personal. Luckily, the Pump Action Shotgun can be found fairly early on during your forays into Seattle.

In the Downtown semi-open world segment on Seattle Day 1, venture into the Westlake Bank on the corner of Cherry Street and 6th Avenue, to the left of where you enter the area. Clear out the Infected and head into the Safe Deposit Room at the back of the atrium and open the Westlake Bank safe. The Last of Us 2’s Pump Action Shotgun is held by a corpse in the vault.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown: Stun Bomb Location

During the search for gasoline in Downtown Seattle, approach the large domed synagogue, a place of special significance for Ellie's companion, Dina. Enter through the gate by the red fuel distribution sign and take a right up a ladder. The Stun Bomb crafting schematic can be found in a watchtower booth on the catwalk.

Seattle Day 1 – Downtown: Gun Holster 1 of 2 Location

During the same Downtown section, at the intersection of Spring Street and 5th Avenue, break into the knockoff Starbucks Coffee shop and enter the bathrooms in the back. Take the Pet Store Key Artifact from the baby changing station and ride Shimmer to Barko’s Pet Store on Marion and 6th. Take the delivery entrance via the alleyway and enter the pet store to get Gun Holster 1 of 2 from the counter.

Seattle Day 1 – Capitol Hill: Trap Mine Location

Later in The Last of Us 2, you will escape Eastbrook Elementary School after being held captive by the WLF. On the hunt for one of Joel’s killers, Ellie and Dina will venture through the Seattle suburbs of Capitol Hill on their way to the TV Station. Along the way, you can find one of the most powerful stealth tools in Ellie’s arsenal – the Trap Mine.

Passing through the Capitol Inn parking lot, go through the fence on the right and pull the dumpster out from behind the curb. Pushing it up against the wall, climb it to reach a second-storey apartment balcony. Inside the master bedroom, grab the Trap Mine from the bed.

Seattle Day 2 – Hillcrest: Gun Holster 2 of 2 Location

A while into Seattle Day 2, Ellie will be exploring the suburbs of Seattle on the lookout for a “lone male trespasser.” Dropping into a bike repair store after solving a puzzle with a dumpster, exit out onto the street and cut through the tattoo parlor on the left to find an auto repair shop. Move the dumpster from the door and kill the Runners inside. Ellie’s second Gun Holster is in the safe by the door; the combination of which is 30-82-65.

The Last of Us 2: How to Craft All items

There is a range of handy items that can be crafted to assist various strategies and give players an advantage against enemies in The Last of Us 2.

Seattle Day 2 – Hillcrest: Bow Location

The location of the bow in The Last of Us Part 2 is fairly straightforward. While searching for a “lone male trespasser” on Ellie’s second day in Seattle, you will venture through the suburbs of Hillcrest. Hearing a loud explosion and seeing a plume of black smoke, you will have to cut through a house to progress. Upon being ambushed by your first Stalker in the garage, kill it and take the bow that has grown into its back.

The following section of this guide contains spoilers for the latter half of The Last of Us 2. If you somehow don’t already know about the mid-game twist, look away now.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) – On Foot: Hunting Pistol Location

As Abby, Manny, and Mel head towards the FOB on foot after a close encounter with some ambushing Seraphites, the group will cut through a boat repair workshop. Spotting the FOB, descend from the roof and rejoin Manny back on the street, then pass through the nearby fence. Before dropping onto the train tracks below, look right and sneak through a hole in the wall to find a safe. Get inside using the combination 17-38-07, and take the Hunting Pistol.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) – Hostile Territory: Double Barrel Shotgun Location

Midway through Hostile Territory, on your way to find Owen at the aquarium following the flashback, you’ll fight past some Infected, and drop into an alleyway flanked by stores. Enter the Ruby Dragon, the last one on the left, and head up the stairs. Crawling under a table, deal with the two Clickers on the second story and jump from the balcony to King Street Relics across the street. Enter the storage room on the left and drop through the hole in the floor to the antiques store below. The Double Barrel Shotgun is underneath the counter.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) – Hostile Territory: Gun Holster 1 of 2 Location

Shortly after obtaining the Shotgun, you’ll reach Martyr’s Gate – the monument to the Seraphite prophet in The Last of Us 2 – in Chinatown. At the van repurposed into a shrine, turn right and enter the nail salon. Go through the back door, and get Abby’s first Gun Holster from a table.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) – The Coast: Gun Holster 2 of 2 Location

After the sun sets on the first day, you’ll fight through Stalkers in the woods and leave your new companions, Lev and Yara, in a mobile office. Hop the fence and enter the WPL building. In the garage past the workbench, go inside the booth and take Abby’s second Gun Holster from a desk.

Seattle Day 1 (Abby) – The Coast: Crossbow Location

Like Ellie’s Bow, Abby’s Crossbow is impossible to miss. Entering a ship through a hole in the hull on the way to Owen and Mel's Aquarium, press through the infirmary and head upstairs. T he Crossbow is on a skeleton behind a door you must force open.

Seattle Day 2 (Abby) – The Descent: Flamethrower Location

On Abby’s second day in Seattle, she and Lev will head to the hospital to acquire medical supplies. After falling from a Seraphite sky bridge, they will land in a hotel and have to make their way down to the street on foot. Midway through this section, you’ll rappel down a fire hose and enter the crumbling suites. Making your way down, kill the Stalker that jumps from the wall and climb down another floor. Enter the room with the sleeping Clicker and turn the corner, slipping into the restroom on the right. Inside, cross a beam and crouch through a hole in the wall. The Flamethrower is on the corpse of a FEDRA officer to the left.

The final weapon of The Last of Us Part 2 appears in the final chapter of the game. Only continue reading after you have reached the last location if you want to avoid spoilers.
