As the successor to what is considered one of the greatest games of all-time, The Last of Us: Part 2  is one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the next year. While many await an official release date announcement following a possible leak of The Last of Us: Part 2's release date by Ellie's voice actress, game director Neil Druckmann has now addressed impatient fans on Twitter.

The Last of Us: Part 2  developer Naughty Dog has very likely been questioned time and time again by fans of Naughty Dog and The Last of Us, as indicated by a recent tweet from game director Neil Druckmann. After tweeting a video honoring the anniversary of the release of the first The Last of Us, he joked that The Last of Us: Part 2's release date gets delayed by 5 minutes every time someone asks what the release date is.

While the tweet is not to be taken seriously, the prevailing rumored release date for The Last of Us: Part 2  is February 2020. Some reports and statements have suggested a 2019 release date, such as a tweet by The Last of Us: Part 2  co-director Anthony Newman from a month ago teasing the closure of the game's development cycle. However, there has been little information otherwise to support a 2019 release date.

The Last of Us  is one of the most beloved titles of all-time and is considered one of the highlights of the last generation. Thus, it would make sense for many to express concern over the release of The Last of Us: Part 2 and ask Naughty Dog directly about the game's release date. As evidenced by Druckmann's tweet, the developer has received a lot of questions about The Last of Us: Part 2 release date and appear unlikely to give a concrete answer as Naughty Dog is possibly unsure of the release date itself.

The Last of Us: Part 2  is in development for PlayStation 4
