Reddit user tomdurnell noticed a detail within one of the game's promotional screenshots, which shows Ellie wearing a spacesuit that appears to have a name tag titled "E. Williams." Although the game's director, Neil Druckmann, stated a couple of years ago that Ellie's last name is Williams, this is the first in-game confirmation that this is in fact her last name. It's somewhat surprising that her surname has never been mentioned in the Last of Us games before, so this reveal was a long time coming.

Fans of Ellie will likely be excited to know that The Last of Us 2 Remastered's "Lost Levels" may include additional information about her background, specifically her relationship with Dina and other Jackson inhabitants. One of these new levels, titled Jackson Party, presumably follows Ellie the night before the game begins, allowing players to explore Jackson and interact with its citizens.

Players are particularly excited about The Last of Us 2 Remastered's No Return Mode, which sees players battle against increasingly difficult enemies as they progress from one area to the next.
