The Last of Us 2 Remastered has finally been released, and fans are quite curious to learn more about how they can transfer their existing progress from the game to the remastered version.

Since its announcement, The Last of Us 2 Remastered has garnered mixed reception from the community, with a number of players demanding that it should have been a free upgrade instead. The revamped version of one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, not only features enhanced visuals, but also a plethora of other features, including new game modes, cosmetics, and director commentary. How To Transfer The Last Of Us 2 Remastered Save File From PS4 To PS5

The good news is that transfering save files is possible, although the process might be a bit tricky. Before players can get started playing the game on the PlayStation 5, it is crucial to ensure that the device can access the save file. Players can do this either by using Cloud Saves, or directly offline.

Via Cloud Saves

  • Head to Settings, Application Saved Data Management, and Saved Data in System Storage on the PlayStation 4 from which you wish to transfer your saved file.
  • Select Upload to Online Storage and upload your The Last of Us 2 save data to the cloud.
  • Once that's done, players can log in to their PS5 with the same account and then download the saved data under Settings, Saved Data and Game/App Settings, Saved Data (PS4), and Cloud Storage.
  • Start the game, select Story, and then click on the Import Game option to choose the save data you want to load.

Offline

For players who don't want to get into all the trouble of using Cloud Storage, thankfully, there is a way to do all of this offline as well. The only catch is that players need a USB stick to be able to follow this process.

  • Once again, head to Settings, Application Saved Data Management, and Saved Data in System Storage on the PlayStation 4 you wish to transfer your saved file. Choose the Copy to USB Storage Device option.
  • Copy The Last of Us 2 save data, and insert the USB stick into your PS5.
  • Head to Settings, Saved Data, and Game/App Settings, Saved Data (PS4), and then use the Copy from USB Drive to copy the saved data.
  • The saved data can then be used in the game by using the Import Game option under Story mode.
