10 Ways to Shake Up a Second Playthrough of The Last of Us Part 1 or 2
If you're planning to replay The Last of Us games, try these tips to spice up your second playthrough and keep it fresh and exciting.
Abby has 6 weapons in The Last of Us Part 2 throughout her journey, and it’s imperative that players know which of them is the best, and which of them are worth upgrading first so that Abby has the best odds to survive against infected, Seraphites, and of course, Ellie herself.
6 Flamethrower
A Scorching Weapon for Close-Quarter Infected Engagements
- How to Get the Flamethrower: Found on a FEDRA skeleton in a bathroom during Seattle Day 2, The Descent.
Abby’s Flamethrower is a hefty and violent weapon, one that can truly scorch foes with enough force. However, the Flamethrower doesn’t have the best range, and most fast-running enemies will just power through the Flamethrower in an attempt to hit or stab Abby, which makes this weapon quite tank-like with little reward.
Against human enemies, the Flamethrower is a sadist’s dream, but other than that, it should only be used against the infected. Enemies like Clickers and Bloaters suffer against the Flamethrower, but it’s still a chunky weapon that might be more trouble than it’s worth.
5 Military Pistol
An Important Pistol for Stealth and Fast-Firing
- How to Get the Military Pistol: Automatically acquired during Seattle Day 1.
The Military Pistol will be Abby’s first and most important weapon, but certainly not the best. Ammo is most common for the Military Pistol, and suppressors will allow this gun to be used during stealth gameplay for a few shots before the silencer breaks. With the Military Pistol, Abby will always have a reliable and fast way to shoot enemies, but if it’s not a headshot, it’s not dealing a lot of damage.
The Last Of Us: 29 Best Joel Quotes
Joel will be a supporting character in The Last Of Us 2, but he's had a lasting impact from the first game with these amazing quotes.
With its capabilities in stealth, fast turning, rate of fire, and ammo capacity, the Military Pistol deserves points, but it’s marked down for its lack of accuracy and its lack of stopping power, which makes this a great weapon for the reserves or for a headshot in stealth.
4 Double Barrel Shotgun
A Powerful Gun for Close-Range Slaying
- How to Get the Double Barrel Shotgun: Found underneath a counter in the antiques store during Seattle Day 1, Hostile Territory.
For tight situations, the Double Barrel Shotgun comes in clutch. This weapon is as close-range as it gets, and it's perfect for hostile encounters where enemies are hiding behind corners or preparing to charge with little concern for their own safety, which makes this gun a great killer for the always-charging infected, like Runners and Clickers.
Even against humans, the Double Barrel Shotgun excels thanks to its kick and stopping power, which will easily pulverize enemies and their limbs with one blast. The Double Barrel Shotgun is always reliable from close range, and when it comes to fighting in buildings, this should be a go-to.
3 Hunting Pistol
The One-Shot Long-Range Pistol
- How to Get the Hunting Pistol: Found within a safe just before the train tracks in Seattle Day 1, On Foot.
Despite the limited ammo capacity, the Hunting Pistol excels at longer-range engagements, especially with the right upgrades. A small bloom means that accuracy is key with the Hunting Pistol, but shots fired are always going to kill enemies in one bullet, but perhaps not Shamblers and Bloaters due to their armored plating that players need to be aware of.
Either way, the Hunting Pistol is going to kill Seraphs and infected with ease, even if it’s not a headshot. The damage provided from a Hunting Pistol is great, and so are the upgrades, it’s just a shame this weapon has such limited ammo before players are forced to reload.
2 Semi-Auto Rifle
Great for Medium-Range Combat Against Many Foes
- How to Get the Semi-Auto Rifle: Automatically acquired during Abby's Seattle Day 1 chapter.
As far as a primary weapon goes, the Semi-Auto Rifle can’t be beat. This is Abby’s most reliable weapon when it comes to head-on confrontations with enemies that just won’t stop, and with its generous ammo count, stopping power, and accuracy, the Semi-Auto Rifle will conquer the battlefield with a steadied hand and a ready stash of ammunition.
The Last of Us: 10 Scariest Locations in the Games, Ranked
These locations stuck out as the creepiest in The Last Of Us games, and definitely left their permanent mark on players.
The Semi-Auto Rifle benefits from its rate of fire and accuracy, providing Abby with a weapon that can solidify itself as a competent weapon from close range, medium range, and long range, even if it does mainly benefit from the last two. Either way, this should be a gun everyone uses when they’re not interested in stealth.
1 Crossbow
The Perfect Stealth Weapon
- How to Get the Crossbow: Found on a corpse inside the ship during Seattle Day 1, The Coast.
Speaking of stealth, it can’t get much better than the Crossbow. This is Abby’s only weapon that can actually have ammo retrieved, since fired bolts can be picked up from where they were fired, even if they do have a chance to break. The Crossbow excels in stealth gameplay, so try to use this weapon when you’re more interested in the quiet and violent life.
With upgrades to the scope and the reload speed, the Crossbow becomes a must-have weapon for stealth, considering it can be fired from long-range and easily reload, so that alerted enemies can be dealt with before they bring more trouble to the scene.
