There are a total of 6 weapons that Ellie can find throughout her revenge odyssey in The Last of Us Part 2, and each of them offers Ellie a unique advantage during combat with infected, WLF, and Seraphites. Considering the world is immensely hostile, Ellie is going to need all the weapons she can carry if she’s supposed to endure and survive, especially since some of these weapons have different effects and usefulness in combat encounters.

Ellie & the Rat King & Abby
The Last of Us: 10 Scariest Locations in the Games, Ranked

These locations stuck out as the creepiest in The Last Of Us games, and definitely left their permanent mark on players.

Whether it’s for infected or humans, each weapon listed will show players how to get it, the upgrade chain, and what the strengths and weaknesses are so that Ellie can focus on the best weapons she can get her hands on.

6 Revolver

Joel's Gun is Great for Close-Range Runners

  • How to Get the Revolver: Found within a shoebox in Joel's house in Jackson, Packing Up.

While the Revolver holds immense sentimental value since it was Joel’s weapon, that’s where the Revolver’s benefits really end. Well, maybe that’s not exactly fair to say, since the Revolver is great at close-range due to its stopping power, which can come in handy in the early game since Ellie won’t have a shotgun at the start of Seattle, but one is so easy to acquire that it negates the point of the Revolver somewhat.

The Revolver is still useful, as it does have a better range than the Pump Shotgun, and its stopping power is rather nice. However, it’s also a weapon with a harsh kick that makes resetting shots for accurate headshots a tad harder than other weapons would be to handle.

5 Semi-Auto Pistol

A Reusable Gun With Easy Silencers to Make

  • How to Get the Semi-Auto Pistol: Automatically acquired during the Jackson chapter.

Ellie’s central weapon, outside of her switchblade, is going to be her Semi-Auto Pistol, the weapon that she holsters and uses most commonly. The Semi-Auto Pistol is a great weapon, especially since ammo is never going to be in short supply thanks to how common this weapon type is with the WLF soldiers. However, it does have a few drawbacks.

The Semi-Auto Pistol doesn’t have the best damage output or range, making it only really efficient in close-quarters situations. However, the Semi-Auto Pistol can have crafted suppressors, which makes it a great weapon for fast-firing stealth kills.

4 Bolt-Action Rifle

A One-Shot Rifle That Can Be Upgraded to a Sniper

  • How to Get the Bolt-Action Rifle: Automatically acquired during the Jackson chapter.

A single-shot rifle that takes a while to reload, but definitely gets the job done at long range. The Bolt-Action Rifle may be slow and heavy to handle, but an accurate hand and a keen eye will be able to shoot the head off a clicker or a soldier from a mile away with little regard to where the bullet came from in the first place.

10 Ways to Shake Up a Second Playthrough of The Last of Us Part 1 or 2

If you're planning to replay The Last of Us games, try these tips to spice up your second playthrough and keep it fresh and exciting.

The Bolt-Action Rifle deals a lot of damage, so even without a headshot, players are expecting a mean weapon that can stop anyone in their tracks so long as it hits them in the upper body, and further upgrades will see this single-shot rifle become more useful against multiple enemies in quick succession.

3 Pump Shotgun

The Powerful and Kicking Close-Range Shottie

  • How to Get the Pump Shotgun: Acquired from within the bank vault in Seattle Day 1's Downtown area.

For close-range fights, the Pump Shotgun will be extremely reliable. There are multiple enemies, especially those who are infected, who will charge towards Ellie. Whether it’s the skittish Stalkers or the fast and aggressive Runners, Ellie will need a weapon that has a large spread so that there’s little room for error and accuracy when it comes to firing this gun into fast-moving targets.

The Pump Shotgun can easily punch through enemies at close range, making this a must-have for interior encounters where stealth isn’t an option, and Ellie needs to clear out enemies that are in her way so that she can run from a Shambler or a Bloater with ease.

2 Bow

The Stealth Weapon for Reusable Ammo and Long-Range Kills

  • How to Get the Bow: Acquired on Seattle Day 2, Hillcrest, from a Stalker in a house.

If Ellie wants a weapon made for scavenging, then she can use the reliable Bow. This weapon, when fired, will sometimes provide players with their arrows so that they can have their ammo back. Even better still, is that players can craft arrows, and even craft Explosive Arrows that can be used to explode a multitude of enemies, like sleeping infected that are huddled together, who are certainly not expecting a dynamite arrow to blow them up.

The Last Of Us: 29 Best Joel Quotes

Joel will be a supporting character in The Last Of Us 2, but he's had a lasting impact from the first game with these amazing quotes.

1

Even outside of the Explosive Arrow, the Bow is a masterful weapon, with upgrades to further its draw speed and accuracy that make long-range combat even easier. Each arrow fired will commit players to stealth, ensuring a grand time indeed.

1 Silenced Submachine Gun

A Permanent Silencer on a Fast Firing SMG

  • How to Get the Silenced Submachine Gun: Automatically acquired after a cutscene in the Santa Barbara chapter.

The best weapon in The Last of Us Part 2 is easily the Silenced Submachine Gun, but it’s sadly only available during the final chapter for Ellie’s story. Nevertheless, this gun is an absolute beast, and makes New Game Plus a walk in the park. It has a built-in suppressor, ensuring that every kill is in stealth so that Ellie is never caught with a smoking barrel.

Even outside of stealth, the Silenced Submachine Gun has the best rate of fire and stability of any weapon she possesses, ensuring that she has a rapid-fire gun that can tear through humans and infected alike, even if it’s not the most beneficial weapon for Shamblers and Bloaters.
