The Last of Us: Special Edition Leaked

There have been an abundance of The Last of Us remasters, remakes, and PC ports over the years, but it doesn't look like Naughty Dog is done just yet. While fans continue to plead for The Last of Us: Part 3, Naughty Dog is supposedly gearing up to release a Special Edition of The Last of Us. According to leaker billbil-kun via Dealabs, the new edition is currently in development and will receive a physical release for the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, the contents of the edition are presently unclear. There's no word on whether or not this will include both The Last of Us: Part 1 and Part 2, or if it will be a standalone edition of one of the two titles. However, the leaker did reveal a price point of $109.99 USD, suggesting it will likely include both games.

There's no release date for the Special Edition, but billbil-kun anticipates the opening of pre-orders "very soon," with estimates putting an announcement within the next two months. While none of the aforementioned details have been confirmed by Naughty Dog or Sony at the time of writing, HBO is currently gearing up to release The Last of Us Season 2, with the first episode of the season set to air on April 13. Given that the second season will be aired in its entirety by the end of May, there's always the possibility that Sony is intending to capitalize on the show's popularity by revealing the Special Edition during Season 2.

For fans waiting for a brand new instalment in the series, it could still be quite some time until The Last of Us: Part 3 is released. Creator Neil Druckmann has gone back and forth on a third instalment, recently suggesting that the series ended with The Last of Us: Part 2. While plans could most certainly change in the future, the studio is currently developing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for the PlayStation 5. The brand-new IP was revealed earlier this year and takes players into space as Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who becomes stranded on a distant planet known as Sempiria. The release date for the title has yet to be confirmed.
