How To Complete The Questline

Blazing Hand Questline in Lords of the Fallen

To start this questline, the first thing you need are three gestures that are important throughout the questline. The gestures are the Pledge of Adyr, Crimson Ritual Fervour, and the Laughter gesture. The Pledge of Adyr gesture is located on top of a corpse lying on a broken catapult at the start of the Upper Calrath, which you can access from Lower Calrath. Obtaining Crimson Ritual Fervour is simple; all you have to do is interact with the Shrine of Adyr for the first time, and you will get the gesture. For the Laughter gesture, players will have to kill Crimson Rector Percival and complete the first part of Damarose the Marked's questline to get it.

After obtaining the gestures, head to the Vestige of Betrayed Eliard, known as the Shrine of Adyr. From here, take the left path, go down the ladder, and cross the bridge. You will soon reach an open area in the castle where you can fight The Lightreaper if you have not defeated him already. Here, you will be able to spot a tree that you can interact with. Perform the Pledge of Adyr gesture to hear a dialogue and initiate the questline.

The main objective of the questline is to find the five Blazing Hands located at different locations and to throw a quest item at them. The first Blazing Hand is located in Fief of the Chill Curse. From the Vestige of Svornil head up the stairs and keep going straight until you reach the ladder at the end. Go up the ladder, and on your right at the back, you will find the Wintry Ordnance quest item. Right next to the item, you will find the first Blazing Hand on a tree that you have to extinguish using the quest item, which you can put in your hand.

For the second Blazing Hand make your way back to the Shrine of Adyr and head straight and down the ladder. Instead of going across the bridge this time, head into the tunnel on the left and switch to the Umbral Realm. From here on, you have to hug the right wall at all times until you reach the end of the tunnel. As you exit the tunnel, you will be able to see a tree up ahead with the second Blazing Hand.

Next up is the third Blazing Hand, for which you will have to go to the Skyrest Bridge and back to the arena where you fight Pieta. Go straight here until you reach a door on your left that leads to Upper Calrath. Go down the ladder and use the Umbral Lamp to go through the barred gate. Here, you will see the tree with the Blazing Hand. This is the same area where you fight Kukajin if you end up making her hostile.

The Angel of The Void Armor Set will boost defense and offer resistances in Lords of the Fallen. Here's how players can get their hands on it.

Now onto the fourth Blazing Hand, you will have to make your way to the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim in Bramis Castle. Head straight towards the staircase on the left that leads up to the inside of the castle. Once up the staircase, head to the left path that leads to the main room of the castle. Head left here through the fire, for which you will have to use your Umbral Lamp and change to the Umbral Realm. To open the door up ahead, you will need the Royal Key, which is located on the 2nd floor of the castle, lying on a bookshelf. Keep going straight past the royal dining room and into the courtyard, where you can find the fourth Blazing Hand.

For the last Blazing Hand, you will have to go to the Vestige of Hooded Antuli, which is at the Sunless Skein Mines. Open the door on the left of the vestige using the Sunless Skein Key. This key is located on top of one of the cages just before the Skinstealer boss fight. Going through the gate, keep heading north until you reach a lava pit, and turn right to go up the ladder twice. Here, you will find the fifth Blazing Hand.

After extinguishing all the Blazing Hands, you will have to go back to the tree you interacted with at the start of the questline and perform the Crimson Ritual Fervour gesture. Doing this will summon General Engstrom, who is the boss affiliated with this questline. Defeating the boss drops the General Engstrom Armor Set and some Umbral Scouring. Additionally, after the boss fight, you can perform the Laughter gesture at the tree to acquire Judgement and Punishment Boss weapons. These are great hammer weapons that can deal a huge amount of damage if they are upgraded to the max level.

Tips For General Engstrom Boss Fights

General Engstrom in Lords of the Fallen

General Engstrom is the secret boss who appears at the end of the Blazing Hand questline. The boss is optional in terms of affecting the story, but defeating him is mandatory if you want his Armor set as well as both of his weapons. General Engstrom is quite an agile foe and can prove troublesome the longer the fight draws out. The boss has a wide arsenal of attacks, such as Slam Attacks, Flame Spikes, Clones, and much more. General Engstrom can engage and disengage quite easily using his Dash ability, allowing him to stay aggressive and get away when he feels pressured. However, as he wields two hammers, his attack speed is relatively slow, allowing you to dodge his attacks with ease.

Aside from the boss being nimble, he also has quite a lot of health. Because of this, the fight with General Engstrom can take quite a while, and constant spikes and dashing clones can tire out even experienced players. Taking advantage of his slow swinging attacks and observing his dashes can lead to you defeating the boss quicker.
