Ghost of Yotei is filled with Side Tales, most of which are generally short and reward you with a minor cosmetic. However, there are some Side Tales, like the Loss We Carry quest, which introduces the player to a merchant NPC who sells quite a few items and resources that are quite useful early on. The guide below offers a walkthrough for the whole quest, including the location of Taro in Ghost of Yotei.
Players need to make sure they have at least 250 Coins before making their way to Taro, as they will need Coins to purchase the Charm.

The Loss We Carry Side Tale Guide in Ghost of Yotei
How to Start The Loss We Carry Side Tale
To start this quest, players need to finish the prologue to be able to freely move around the map. Once you do that, you can ride your horse to the northeast part of the region, going past Serpent's Pass. You will spot a small campsite, which is the Prospector's Camp. Here you can find a harmless bear roaming around and a Settler standing next to the river.
Talk to him, and he will introduce himself as Toku. He will explain to Atsu about Mari and how he wants you to retrieve a Charm from Toku and place it on Mari's grave. This starts the quest, The Loss We Carry.
Where to Find Taro in Ghost of Yotei
With the quest accepted, you will need to make your way to the northwest of Ohara Plains. Here, you can find Taro sitting at the Dead Man's Tree location. Once you talk to him, he will give you a free armor, which he claims he stole from a dead body. However, after acquiring the armor, a bunch of Saito's men will show up who are angry at Taro because he stole their armor.
Deal with all of them, and you will get 150 Coins as a reward. He is selling quite a few items and resources, but what you need is the Charm of Blessing for 400 Coins.
Making Way to Mari’s Grave in Ghost of Yotei
Once you acquire the Charm, your objective will change, and you will have to travel west of Fubari Lake to reach the Monument Tree. Once again, you will find more of Saito's men here that you need to deal with. After this encounter, talk to the person standing here, who claims he is Mari's father. He will also tell you to take the charm back to Toku. Before going back to the Camp, make sure you interact with the Altar of Reflection up ahead for a free Skill Point.
Once you are back at the camp, you can talk to Toku and complete the quest. With the quest completed, you can visit Taro at any point in the game and purchase charms and items that will surely help Atsu on her journey.
