The 1.0 release of The Planet Crafter has come and gone, but Miju Games isn't done with it yet. Following the game's gold release, the developers have come out with the "Explosive Update", which adds a new item to the game and several new locations.
One such location is the Red Falls biome, which you can only reach by using the explosive item that Miju Games has provided. Of course, the other thing you need to do is locate the biome, and the ways you can reach it. That's why this guide will explain how to use explosives, where to find the Red Falls, and what you can do once you've found your way in.
The Planet Crafter: Best Starting Locations
Just starting off in The Planet Crafter? These locations are some of the best for early-game. Here's what their pros and cons are as well.
How to Craft and Use Explosives in The Planet Crafter
The first thing you need to do to reach the Red Falls of The Planet Crafter is unlock the Explosive item. Keep in mind that this isn't the same item as the Large Explosive Device that you need to use to see any of the game's endings. You can only build the Large Explosive Device in one location, while you can use a regular Explosive anywhere on the map.
You can get the recipe for an Explosive by using enough Blueprint Microchips. The Explosive is in one of the last "groups" you can unlock using these chips, but there are plenty of other blueprints you can unlock after getting the Explosive if you start a new game.
The microchips you find in distant wrecks unlock specific blueprints, and so to get the Explosive you'll need the generic Blueprint Microchips you find most often in the main map.
The Explosive is a Biolab recipe, and you'll need two Explosive Powders and one Circuit Board to craft each one. You can then use an Explosive by activating it from your inventory: with a standard PC setup, you can activate it with the right mouse button. If you drop it from your inventory instead, the Explosive will fall to the ground, and you can pick it back up by interacting with it.
Using the Explosive also causes it to fall to the ground, but interacting with it will start a five-second timer. Once the time runs out, the Explosive will blow up anything nearby, which can cause some serious damage if you're standing too close. This explosion will destroy special rock walls in caves, but it won't damage anything else in the area.
Where to Find the Red Falls Biome in The Planet Crafter
Finding the Red Falls is relatively easy, at least for players who have unlocked the map: all you have to do is check the northeast corner of the main area. You should see several red spots surrounded by rocks. This marks the Red Falls biome. But, while it's technically possible to glitch your way into the area by climbing the rock walls outside, the best way in is to find one of the three cave entrances that lead to the Red Falls and blow up the stones that block the way.
There are three caves that lead to the Red Falls, one for each biome that borders the Red Falls.
- Head due north of the Gate Desert's main feature to find a large cavern blocked by heavy boulders.
- Search the back wall of the iridium cave in the Grand Rift to spot the second entrance.
- Check the eastern edge of the Grasslands to find an opening that leads to a boulder wall.
The Planet Crafter: How to Install Mods (And Which Ones to Get)
The Planet Crafter doesn't come with mod support, but you can still add them if you're willing to jump through a few hoops.
What's Inside the Red Falls Biome?
The Red Falls biome consists of three roughly circular regions, each one connected to the other two. The northeast region is higher than the other two, but you can get there by climbing a ramp or using your jetpack to climb a waterfall.
Noteworthy items inside the biome include:
- A large shipwreck in the northwest region, which holds plenty of randomly generated crates.
- A frog pond in the south region that contains Leglus frog eggs.
- A small shipwreck in the northeast region; the crates inside have mostly random items, but they always include two Ruberu tree seeds (Ruberu is the tree species that grows in the Red Falls).
- A golden crate with a fuse effigy behind a waterfall in the northeast region. The coordinates are 2459:126:-599.
