The Precinct, a new top-down shooter that puts players in the shoes of rookie officer Nick Cordell Jr., has provided fans with an update on its future plans following its worldwide launch earlier this week. The Precinct caught the attention of gamers last year and was quickly dubbed as a "GTA-style game" that switches things up by allowing players to take on the role of a police officer, as opposed to the usual criminal perspective.
After getting to go hands-on with a demo during Steam Next Fest last year, fans have been eager to see more of the new indie title. The Precinct quickly became a huge hit on Steam, with its demo racking up over 100,000 downloads on the platform. At the time, the title was set to release in Q4 2024, but was eventually pushed back to 2025 and finally released on May 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Unfortunately, the highly anticipated title has received mixed reviews, with many stating that The Precinct needs some major AI improvements, bug fixes, balance adjustments, and more.
GTA 6 Trailer 2 Recreated in Grand Theft Auto 5
A dedicated and creative fan recreates Grand Theft Auto 6's new trailer entirely in Grand Theft Auto 5, and the results are incredible.
Following The Precinct's full release on May 13, developer Fallen Tree Games has now provided fans with an update on its future plans for the title. In a new Steam post, the developer thanked fans for their 1,000+ reviews and said it is tracking the most urgent and requested fixes. The studio goes on to explain that the programming team is already working on general bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, crime rate balancing, AI behavior, and Escort Unit fixes.
While on shift in The Precinct, players are required to patrol designated areas and investigate reported incidents. However, one recurring complaint from players is that the rate of crimes being reported during a shift is too high, making it impossible to get to all of the incidents in time. Thankfully, Fallen Tree Games has now said it wants to keep things "at least somewhat realistic" and intends to look into the crime rate in Averno and balance where necessary. There have also been complaints from players surrounding Escort Units, which are used to take criminals back to the Precinct. As many are encountering issues with the feature not working correctly, the studio says it is working on a fix.
Although The Precinct places players on the good side of the law, there are sure to be plenty of gamers who check out this popular indie title while they patiently wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 to release. The upcoming GTA game was initially set to launch in Fall 2025, but Rockstar Games recently confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed to May 26, 2026. The good news, however, is that the studio also recently released a brand-new trailer for the highly anticipated title, alongside an updated website with over 70 new screenshots for fans to analyze.
