The Rookie season 7, episode 17, "Mutiny and the Bounty," will air on ABC on Tuesday May 6th, 2025 at 9 p.m. E.T. Since every episode premieres on Hulu the next day, fans can stream The Rookie season 7, episode 16 on Hulu on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025.

The official episode description reads:

"The team helps skip tracer Randy when his new love interest is kidnapped; Angela and Nyla enlist their moms to help catch a con artist; Wesley is threatened to drop a case."

The Rookie season 7, episode 16, "The Return" featured Seth Riley's comeback, and now fans get the chance to see Skip Tracer Randy (Flula Borg) again. Randy's past appearances have been memorable, which makes him a welcome addition to the show's strong seventh season. He aided in the search for Bailey's ex-husband Jason Wyler (Steve Kazee), and in The Rookie season 4, episode 14, he also assisted with the disappearance of Ivy Flynn (Erin Cummings).

It sounds like "Mutiny and the Bounty" has two other riveting plotlines. It will be fun to watch Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox) spend time with their moms, especially since Lopez and Harper work so well together. Wesley Evers's (Shawn Ashmore) storyline will likely add some humor to the episode since Wesley is cool, calm, and confident but also gets flustered at times.

The Rookie's most recent episode continued some storylines that still need a resolution, particularly whether Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil) and Tim Bradford's (Eric Winter) will get back together. At the end of "The Return," viewers learned that Lucy would find out the results of her sergeant's exam in about a week, so it's possible she will get some news about that in episode 17. It's hard to imagine Lucy not passing the test, but since nothing is ever completely easy or drama-free on the ABC procedural, she will likely encounter some problems during the next phase of her career journey.

What Did Showrunner Alexi Hawley Say About The Rookie Season 7?

In an interview with TV Guide in January 2025, showrunner Alexi Hawley talked about what to expect from The Rookie season 7 and answered a question about characters departing the show. Hawley mentioned the significance of having "stakes" on the show and said:

"The mantra is always stakes trump comedy. We have a lot of fun on our show and we tell a lot of jokes, but at the end of the day, the fact that the audience is worried is actually really good for our show. So I will just say that and then we'll see what happens."

It's sad to imagine any of the LAPD officers leaving, but The Rookie has lost a few characters since the show premiered in 2018, including Talia Bishop (Afton Williamson) after season 1. Change is inevitable when a show has been on the air for as many years as the beloved police drama has, and when The Rookie season 7 ends soon, fans will be on the edges of their seats waiting to see if anyone says goodbye.
