The Sims 2 is best known for the quality of life updates it added to the life simulation game, including an aging feature. However, longtime fans remember the game for its deep lore and mysteries. Some have even argued that The Sims 2 was the creepiest in the franchise, and that's probably because this was the first game that gave aliens, ghosts, and the Grim Reaper bigger roles compared to the previous one.

Nearly 20 years since it was released, The Sims 2 still has a number of mysteries that remain unresolved to this day, even with the release of more recent Sims games. Players can uncover these if they look at Sims' bios, memories, and family trees, as well as items in their surroundings, like tombstones in some homes. Of course, this also includes the longstanding mystery of what happened to Bella Goth.

Was Don Lothario Involved in Bella Goth's Disappearance?

The Sims Don Lothario

In The Sims 2, players can find the Goth family in Pleasantview. Bella is nowhere to be found because she was believed to be abducted by aliens while using the telescope, and never returned. However, she could be spotted walking around Strangetown, a world inhabited by aliens, with seemingly no memory of the family she left behind.

While the alien abduction story seems to be canon at this point, many The Sims 2 fans are convinced that ladies' man Don Lothario from Pleasantview was involved in Bella's disappearance. If players looked at Don's memories, he had a seemingly flirtatious relationship with Bella. She was also apparently last seen in his home and had rejected his attempt at making out with her. Bella allegedly disappeared shortly after meeting with Don, which raised suspicion that he might have had something to do with it.

Were The Caliente Sisters Also Involved in Bella Goth's Disappearance?

The Sims 5 Caliente Sisters Involved in the Bella Goth Disappearance

Another Bella Goth theory involves Pleasantview's Caliente sisters. According to their family bio, Dina and Nina arrived on the eve of Bella's disappearance. The former eventually became the lover of Mortimer Goth, who was Bella's husband, but it's believed that she's only after his money because of her Fortune aspiration. Meanwhile, both sisters are also romantically involved with Don Lothario.

Interestingly, the Caliente sisters are part alien. A quick look at their family tree shows that one of their grandparents was a Pollination Technician. It's believed that because of their relationship with Don, he must have approached them to arrange Bella's alien abduction. This hasn't been proven yet, but because of Dina's relationship with Mortimer, many The Sims 2 players have been questioning their motives.

Why is the Landgraab Family So Wealthy?

The Sims Landgraab

Landgraab is a well-known name in the Sims franchise as it can be found in buildings in SimCity 3000 and household items. One would assume that the Landgraab family in The Sims was in the real estate business, but there are still speculations on how they really got their fortune. In The Sims 2, it's said that a man named Gregory Landgraab received a large sum of money back in the day, while another story noted that the family had been wealthy since Admiral Landgraab. The running theory among many players is that the Landgraabs were land grabbers, which could explain their generational wealth.

Is Olive Specter a Serial Killer?

sims 2 every unresolved mystery olivia specter

Strangetown citizen Olive Specter is known for having a disturbing number of tombstones on her lot. In total, there are 19 tombstones in the home's graveyard, ranging from Olive's dead husbands and relatives to random NPCs. However, if players looked at Olive's memories, she remembers 21 deaths in her lifetime. This meant that the graves of a few other Sims were missing.

Although many of the Sims' causes of death seemed to be accidental, like starvation and electrocution, there are speculations that Olive actually murdered them. This was never confirmed, but many players believed this was the case because of her romantic relationship with The Sims' Grim Reaper, even having a son with him named Nervous Subject, who lives with the Beakers after he was taken away by Social Services as a child. It's possible that Olive allegedly murdered these people in order to get closer to the Grim Reaper.

The Sims 2 players could also try to resurrect the dead people buried in the Specter lot using the Resurrect-O-Nomitron to try and solve this mystery. However, the game would reportedly get corrupted if they attempted it.

What Happened to the Tricou Family?

The Entire Tricou Family

The Tricous were a family that lived in Downtown's House of Fallen Trees in The Sims 2: Nightlife. All eight members of this mysterious family have passed away, and players could find some of their tombstones if they move into their home and visit the cemetery. The four-story house is said to have an eerie vibe to it with its dim lighting and the occasional appearance of the Tricou family ghosts in the evening.

The deaths of each Tricou family member are still a mystery until now, but some players living in the House of Fallen Trees discovered a pair of vampire coffins in the basement. This has raised speculations that the Tricous, or at least some of them, were actually vampires. Whether this detail had anything to do with their deaths is still up in the air.

Who is the Second Skip Broke?

Skip’s death

Skip Broke passed away before the events of The Sims 2 after drowning in a swimming pool that had no stepladder. His death had been a mystery in The Sims 2 for years, but it seems that it might have been a dark easter egg referencing how players would trap Sims in swimming pools. The real mystery is the fact that there were apparently two Skip Brokes.

In Brandi Broke's memories, she remembers being with two different Skips: one was said to appear in the family album, while the other was in the Broke family tree. They had the same blonde hair and clothing but had different eye colors (the "real" Skip had green eyes, while the other had blue eyes). No one, including Brandi, knows for certain which one was the real Skip as both were already dead at the start of The Sims 2. It is important to note that the one in the family album could not be resurrected.

Who Built the Watervista Palace?

sims 2 every unresolved mystery watervista palace

Watervista Palace is a hidden residential home located in the upper left corner of The Sims 2: Apartment Life's Belladonna Cove. It's a well-furnished two-story home that resembles Baba Yaga's hut, complete with "chicken feet" stairs. It's simply assumed to be a The Sims 2 easter egg as players could only find it if they maneuver the in-game camera a certain to show Watervista Palace. But it's still worth asking who built the house and who lived in it, although the question remains unanswered.

The Sims 5 is in development.
