The Sims 4 is a vibrant life simulation game and the latest in the popular franchise. Players can create Sims with complex personalities and styles of all shapes and sizes.

Create-A-Sim (CAS) is where The Sims 4 players can make and edit Sims at the beginning of a new save or when they want to change their clothes. Clothes are assigned to various categories, and players can assign multiple outfits to each Outfit Category to give their Sim more options. Read on to learn how.

The Sims 4's Create-a-Sim Kits add new clothes, accessories, and hairstyles, but some categories are in more need of additions than others.

How to Add Multiple Outfits in The Sims 4

The Sims 4 Winter Outfit

There are eight clothing categories in The Sims 4, including:

  • Everyday
  • Formal
  • Athletic
  • Sleepwear
  • Party
  • Swimwear
  • Hot Weather
  • Cold Weather

Sims choose what outfit to wear based on their activities. If players have the Seasons DLC installed, Sims dress according to the season and weather. Players can change a Sim into a set outfit anytime by clicking on a dresser and choosing "Change Outfit..." To edit their outfits, select "Plan Outfit" and enter CAS.

Sims will shuffle through their outfits in Live Mode by choosing "Try On Outfits".

Click the upwards arrow above the categories on the appearance menu, and hit the "+" symbol to add another outfit slot in that category. The next slot will be a copy and paste of the previous one.

Players can set up to five different outfits per category. This allows players to style their Sims in several ways and adds a touch more realism to the game. Watch the video below to learn how to add multiple outfits in The Sims 4:

More outfit slots mean more creative freedom when designing Sims. Players who want to give their Sim a distinct look can filter clothing options by color, material, category, or style. Styles include the following:

Fashion

Basics

Boho

Costumes

Country

Hipster

Outdoorsy

Polished

Preppy

Rocker

Streetwear

In Live Mode, Sims will randomly choose an outfit from the category whenever they autonomously change clothes, or players can select their outfits if they want something different.

The Sims 4 PC players can download Custom Content (CC) for free clothing options, including hairstyles and makeup. There are tons of CC links and inspiration on Pinterest or Reddit.

How Does Clothing Affect Sims in TS4

Clothes are a way for Sims to express themselves based on their interests and likes. Players can determine Sim Likes and Dislikes in CAS, including their clothing style preferences. Sims wearing clothes they like will have a Happy Moodlet, but if they wear something they dislike, they get a Tense Moodlet.

For players who only have the Base Game, clothes mainly change depending on activities (sleeping, exercising, and going to work/school) or event dress codes. Fortunately, some Expansion packs add more layers to how clothing affects the gameplay.

Lovestruck introduces Turn Ons/Turn-Offs in The Sims 4, and clothing styles are one of the options. So, how a Sim dresses can make or break their love life. Another way that clothes affect Sims is with the Seasons DLC, which sometimes brings extreme weather, and Sims must wear their Hot or Cold weather clothes to avoid life-threatening conditions.
