Sims can learn skills and share their knowledge in The Sims 4 Businesses and Hobbies. Small businesses are only half of the pack's features, and Sims can also enrich their hobbies by hosting or attending lectures.
The Sims 4: Hobby Meetups, Explained
Nordhaven has hobby meetups that Sims can attend and connect with like-minded Sims who share their interests - here's what Sims 4 fans need to know.
Lectures are a way for Sims to teach others or learn from others. Lectures are free for all Sims and don't require a small business to participate in. Here's how to ask for or host a lecture in The Sims 4 Businesses and Hobbies expansion pack.
How to Listen to a Skill Lecture in The Sims 4
Players can have their Sims attend a lecture if they want them to learn a new skill. Lectures take about 30-45 minutes to complete, and Sims will earn XP for the skill as they listen. Small businesses with Hobby Whiteboards will often have lectures consistently that players can listen to by clicking on the lecturing Sim and choosing the "Listen to Lecture" social option.
While Sims can't ask for lectures, they can ask Sims to start a class using the Hobby Whiteboard when visiting a small business. Sims will usually lecture once or twice during a hobby class, but it does cost money to attend a class.
How to Host a Skill Lecture in The Sims 4
Unlike classes, which require a small business, Sims can offer lectures at any time. Lectures are free to listen to and are an excellent way for Sims to share their passion for certain skills without worrying about making money. Players can follow these steps to have their Sim host a lecture in The Sims 4:
- Click on a Hobby Whiteboard
- Select "Hold Lecture" or "Hold Lecture For..." The second option is for choosing specific Sims to lecture, while the first is general
- Choose the lecture topic from the available options
Sims can host lectures for any Skill level 5 or higher. This way, Sims can teach others using all their skills rather than just the ones attached to an activity or object. Players can run a class with lectures if they want to make money from their lectures, as Sims will pay a flat fee for classes.
Players can set "Run lectures and classes" as an employee task, so employees will automatically host them during open business hours. C ustomers enjoy lectures, which is a good way to earn some positive reviews for the small business. Sims can also use lectures within their households and have parent Sims lecture their kids to increase skill learning.
