Whether it's for story progression or just for kicks, there are plenty of hilarious ways to kill Sims and make their lives a living hell. One of the best ways to do so is by finding and using voodoo dolls. These mythical dolls were first introduced with The Sims: Livin' Large in 2000, which was the first expansion pack for the game. Since then, voodoo dolls can be discovered in every game of The Sims franchise.

More than just mysterious decorations, these enigmatic figures possess the power to influence the lives (and deaths) of Sims in extraordinary ways. They can help players who wish to tell dark storylines or those who just wish to mess with other townies like Agnes Crumplebottom and Eliza Pancakes.
How To Get A Voodoo Doll
There are several ways players can get their hands on voodoo dolls. They can be obtained through base game methods and with several expansion packs. Some methods are more time-consuming than others.
Here are all the methods to find voodoo dolls:
- Fishing: Voodoo dolls can be found in ponds and retrieved by fishing in three different spots: the Oasis Springs Desert Bloom Park, the Forgotten Grotto, and the Sylvian Glades.
- Digging: Some neighborhoods have rocks that Sims can dig treasures from, including voodoo dolls. They can also be dug up from dirt patches with the Cats & Dogs expansion.
- Mischief Skill: Voodoo dolls can be hand-delivered to Sims who reach level three of the mischief skill. Perform mischievous interactions, troll the forums, and pull pranks on Sims to boost this skill.
- Fabricating: Sims with a level three mischief skill and have the Eco Lifestyle pack can fabricate a voodoo doll themselves.
- Purchasing: The easiest way to obtain a voodoo doll is by purchasing one on the computer for 950 simoleons. They can also be bought at the weekly Sunday flea markets in San Myshuno. Players may purchase as many voodoo dolls as they please.
- Humor & Hijinks Festival: At this weekly San Myshuno festival, Jokesters and Pranksters go head-to-head performing funny and mischievous interactions with each other in hopes of winning 500 simoleons, fireworks, and a voodoo doll.
How To Get A Living Voodoo Doll (Hex Doll)
Players with The Sims 4: Realm of Magic can control spellcaster Sims who cast spells and curses, brew potions, and conjure little creatures called familiars. Familiars accompany, assist, and protect spellcasters in the Magic Realm. The living voodoo doll called a Hex Doll is an uncommon familiar that can be purchased in Caster Alley for 250 simoleons. This brown doll with stitched button eyes and a glowing red heart looks as though it has been pinned and pricked in several places on its body. Although it may look a bit sour on the surface, this familiar is a trusty companion.
How To Bind Voodoo Dolls
To perform voodoo interactions, players must bind a doll to a Sim. Once the doll is in the Sim's inventory, click "Bind To" and select a Sim in the vicinity. Only one Sim may be bound to a doll at a time, so choose wisely. Those who wish to terrorize multiple Sims simultaneously should acquire several voodoo dolls in their inventory. Binding can be undone by summoning the Sim and selecting "Unbind," but the option is only available to those with a level five mischief skill.
Sims who have a low mischief skill might not have the best of luck with binding the doll and have higher probabilities to backfire. There are three possibilities when it comes to binding, all with separate moodlets and emotions.
- Successful Voodoo: the doll owner becomes Confident
- Backfire Voodoo: the doll owner becomes Uncomfortable
- Failed Voodoo: the doll owner becomes Sad
Children, toddlers, infants, and newborns cannot use voodoo dolls nor can they be bound to them.
What Do Voodoo Dolls Do
After obtaining and binding a voodoo doll, the real fun begins. There are several interactions players can choose from. Shortly after the interaction is selected, the Sim will play with the doll and illicit a specific emotion out of the targeted Sim.
Here are the interactions and the moodlets and emotions they cause:
- Summon: The Sim bound to the doll will be summoned to the active lot (Sims who are at work may not be summoned)
- Poke: The Sim bound to the doll will receive the "Pain" moodlet and the "Angry" emotion (requires level one mischief skill)
- Frolic: The Sim bound to the doll will receive the "Joy" moodlet and the "Playful" emotion (requires level one mischief skill)
- Tickle: The Sim bound to the doll will receive the "Uneasy" moodlet and the "Uncomfortable" emotion (requires level three mischief skill)
- Soak: The Sim bound to the doll will receive the "Dazed" moodlet and emotion (requires level five mischief skill)
- Toy with Death: This is a special interaction that can only be performed when the Grim Reaper appears during a death. With an unbound voodoo doll, spam the "Toy With Death" interaction to save a dying Sim and force Grim to bring them back to life (requires level five mischief skill).
- Cuddle: The Sim bound to the doll will receive the "Flirty" moodlet and emotion (requires level two charisma skill)
For those who wish to unlock all voodoo doll interactions, the mischief skill can be cheated to level 10 by entering the following code: stats.set_skill_level major_mischief 10
How To Dispose Of Voodoo Dolls
For Sims who want to denounce mischief and dispose of their voodoo doll, there are a few ways to get rid of them. Once they are unbound, they can be sold through the Sim's inventory or in build/buy mode for 760 Simoleons. It may be worth the money to sell the voodoo doll, considering it was an expensive purchase. They can also be gifted or transferred to other Sims, but the binding will not work.
A slightly more entertaining way to dispose of voodoo dolls is to burn them in a bonfire. After the fire has been lit, Sims with a doll in their inventory can click on the fire and select "Burn Voodoo Doll." Sims that were bound to burnt dolls will be freed from their torment. If they are on the active lot they may spontaneously combust in flames, but they'll survive.
