There comes a point in everyone’s life when they’re sick of the daily grind and just want a break from hectic work routines. Sims feel the same way and crave a change in their virtual life in The Sims 4. Whether it’s for pursuing a passion, making time for hobbies, or maybe they’re simply stressed out – Sims might want to quit their jobs.
Quitting a Job in The Sims 4 can open up endless possibilities for Sims, but everything comes at a price. Once a Sim decides to quit their job, the Sim will no longer have a steady income for their household and their relationships with their coworkers might change, depending on the career. Lastly, with the decision to leave a job, the Sim will no longer be assigned any work-related tasks or events. On the plus side – Sims have the option to switch their career, focus on Aspirations, or build a virtual family.
How a Sim Can Quit Their Job
Work takes a toll on Sims and makes them unsatisfied with their virtual lives, just like humans. Here’s how players can make their Sims quit a job.
- Open the Sim’s Phone.
- Click on the “Careers/Household” option, denoted by a little briefcase.
- If a Sim is already in a career, the option to “Quit Job” will be available.
- Click on it and when prompted to confirm, click “OK.”
- Alternatively, if the Sim has a computer in their household, they can find the Quit Job option under Careers by clicking on the Computer.
If a player doesn’t mind using cheats to have their way around, a simple career cheat for a Sim to quit a job is as follows:
- Open the cheat console using “Ctrl+Shift+C” (or equivalent suitable to the player’s device).
- Enable cheats using “testingcheats true.”
- Enter the cheat “remove_career [CareerName].
- Hit Enter. The Sim will quit their job.
If players want to quit but still earn the money from that job, they can use this cheat to retire a Sim but still receive a pension every week: “retire [CareerName]”
How to Switch Careers in The Sims 4
There’s a chance that most players don’t want their Sim to quit a job – but rather switch their careers. To start a new career:
- Go to Phone, and navigate to the Careers section.
- Click on “Find A Job.”
- Select a suitable career for the Sim.
- When prompted to Switch careers, Click “OK”.
The Sims 4 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
