The Sims 4: Werewolves is the twelfth game pack released for The Sims 4 franchise, which introduces a new occult species to the game, the werewolves. Players can create their own werewolf Sims and embark on a journey to explore a world filled with moonlit forests, hidden caves, and supernatural abilities. With the power to transform into a wolf and back, players can immerse themselves in an entirely new gameplay experience and access unique interactions and features. Moreover, the game pack offers a brand new world, Moonwood Mill, with its own unique history, secrets, and lore waiting to be uncovered. It's the perfect game pack for those who are fond of the supernatural and have a wild spirit. It is worth noting that Moonwood Mill is unique in that all of its lots were designed by a single Simmer, James Turner, also known by his former Youtube channel name The Sim Supply. This gives the world a cohesive and immersive atmosphere that sets it apart from many other worlds in the game.

Moonwood Mill is an intriguing world with secrets waiting to be uncovered beyond the tunnel system. Nevertheless, the tunnel system is undoubtedly one of the world's most distinctive features, designed primarily for werewolf Sims, though other Sims can explore them too. These tunnels are perfect for discovering relics and other surprises, as they take Sims to various locations in the world by utilizing rabbit hole mechanics.

How To Get To Hidden Tunnels

The Sims 4 Moonwood Mill Tunnel Locations-1

Moonwood Mill is a one-neighborhood world that offers an open-world experience without any loading screens. One of the unique features of Moonwood Mill is its tunnel system, which allows players to traverse the world faster and encounter certain things along the way. There are three tunnel entrances scattered around the world: the Portal Potties, Sewers Gate, and Bunker Entrance. While they are not too difficult to find, discovering their secrets takes more time than other hidden areas in the game due to the random chance cards that players encounter. However, once players explore enough within each tunnel, they will gain a hidden trait that allows them to traverse between these three locations without having to go through chance cards, and they can even teach other Sims how to do it.

Players can easily locate the Portal Potties near the empty lot and the Moonwood Mill Library by checking the map view, where they will spot the three potties near the dock in that area. Similarly, the Sewers Gate is also not hard to find, located at the drain ditch and accessible by simply clicking on the sewer grate. On the other hand, the bunker entrance may prove to be more challenging to discover as it is not easily visible on the map view. However, players can search for it near the Volkov residence, close to the starter home, and eventually locate it by following the dirt path.

Hidden Tunnel Activities

The Sims 4 Moonwood Mill Tunnel Exploration-1

As Sims explore the tunnels, they will encounter chance cards during their rabbit-hole interactions. Although these cards are random and can be repetitive, the exploring Sim will eventually come across "event" cards that take them to specific rooms within the rabbit-hole with various outcomes. Accessing these rooms requires the player to be a werewolf Sim with certain reward abilities and skills; otherwise, any non-werewolf Sim can easily traverse the tunnels. Sims can also be bitten and turned into werewolves while exploring the tunnels. Some choices will result in specific moodlets, while others will lead to discovering treasures. In general, there are six unique outcomes.

Additional Information

Contacting Werebies

A Presence (Event) > Continue (Choice)> Growling (Event) >Investigate The Growling (Choice) > Furious Growling (Event)> Continue (Choice)

Contacting Werebies is one of the methods for Sims to become Werewolves. As such, non-occult Sims who follow this route will end up transforming into a werewolf.

Access To Garlic Room

A Presence (Event) > Diverging Paths (Event) > Head Towards The Garlic > A Garlic Room (Event) > Go Inside (Choice)

Garlic Room is one of the hidden rooms within the tunnels that are explorable by any Sim. Once Sim enters the garlic room, they will come back with a random item, which might even be a Moonwood Mill relic.

Access To Enchanted Room

A Presence (Event) > Diverging Paths (Event) > Follow The Melody (Choice) > Secret Tunnel (Event) > Enchanted Room (Event)

Similar to the Garlic Room, Enchanted Room is also explorable by any Sim. Main difference between them is the received chance card, which in this case is random. Once Sim finds this room, they might return with random items, once again even including relics.

Access To Old Mill

A Presence (Event) > Diverging paths > Navigate The Debris (Choice) > Water Leak (Event) > Continue (Choice) > The Old Mill (Event) > Attempt To Lift The Wheel (Choice)> The Old Mills' lost Treasure (Event)

Accessing the Old Mill is the only secret event option that requires the Sim to be a werewolf. Additionally, it requires the Sim to have the Nightvision occult perk; without it, Sims will not be able to get the Old Mill Event as they won't be able to see it. Furthermore, Sims require a high fitness skill to lift the wheel successfully to reach the treasure. Sims who successfully lift the wheel will be able to reach the treasure, allowing them to get a Moonwood Relic, making this room one of the best ways to access relics.

Access To Secret Werewolf Bunker

Be a Werewolf or Explore The Tunnels enough. (No specific chance cards are required for this one.)

There is a bunker behind the bar at Moonwood Mill with a Werewolf-only door. This allows Werewolf Sims to directly access the area without needing to go through the tunnels. However, non-werewolf Sims can also access this area through the lot's tunnel entrance point. It requires a certain amount of luck and enough exploration before they can do so. This bunker is essentially entirely livable, as it even has a kitchen and a sleeping area within it, making it an ideal place to discover for those who are following fun challenges such as the Rags to Riches.

Travel To Forgotten Hollow

Requires The Sims 4: Vampires game pack. Once players get the Dark Scent event, they should choose the option to Follow the Scent

In many games, vampires are the natural enemies of werewolves, and The Sims 4 is no exception. What's interesting is that Moonwood Mill implies that the town was completely taken over by werewolves after a battle between vampires and werewolves, during which the werewolves made extensive use of the tunnels. Players who have the Vampires pack, have the option to travel to the empty lot in the town and have some interactions with vampires, if they're feeling particularly adventurous.

The Sims 4 Moonwood Relics-1

As such, while it might not be seemed as a big aspect by some players, the tunnel system offers a great way for players to learn more about the lore of the Moonwood Relics. In fact, alongside just being collection items for display, these relics also share much more lore about the Moonwood Mill, making it arguably one of the most fleshed out worlds in the Sims 4, despite its small size. There are in total 12 relics with different rarities that players can find.

Can Players Build In The Tunnels?

The Sims 4 Moonwood Secret Bunker-1

Since tunnel exploration is limited to rabbit-hole interactions, players cannot physically see the hidden rooms within and cannot build within them. However, the Secret Werewolf Bunker behind the bar is the only exception, as it can be built and customized like any other lot in the game. Players can adjust the bar area and make it their own, without needing to activate cheats or mods. This feature sets the Moonwood Mill apart from other hidden areas in The Sims 4, and offers players a unique opportunity to fully explore and utilize this particular hidden space.

The game pack also provides access to a tunnel entrance object in Build mode, which can be placed on any lot in any world. This means that players can even travel from an enchanting world like the Glimmerbrook from the Realm of Magic pack, to the tunnel system within Moonwood Mills, offering a unique feature provided by the developers. Additionally, this object can be useful for players who want to add more lore-fitting lots in Moonwood Mills, with direct access to the tunnels.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
