The Sims 4 is a massively popular life-sim game where you create characters called Sims and build their homes and families. The game allows you to completely control your Sims' lives, choose their careers, make them go shopping, travel, talk to other Sims, and live their everyday lives.

Like other expansion packs, the Parenthood pack also has many interesting mechanics, and character values are one of them. This guide will give you a complete overview of the character values in The Sims 4: Parenthood.

How To Increase Character Values In The Sims 4: Parenthood

The Parenthood game pack has five character values that your Sims can develop from toddler to young adult age. These values are:

  • Manners
  • Responsibility
  • Emotional Control
  • Empathy
  • Conflict Resolution

The character values of children can vary depending on how their parents raise them.

Manners

Manners are the behaviors that the Sims show at home. This value can increase or decrease depending on how children respond to routine chores and activities. For example, Sims' Manners value can increase when they set the table, clean the dishes, give compliments, or talk politely. On the other hand, they can develop negative Manners by swearing, being rude to their parents, and doing other disrespectful and inappropriate activities.

Responsibility

This character value shows how well kids, teenagers, and young adult Sims can handle responsibility. Their Responsibility value increases when they do homework, repair broken objects, and do part-time jobs. On the other hand, missing school, quitting a part-time job, and breaking curfew will lower this value.

Emotional Control

Emotional Control shows how well your Sims manage their feelings. When Sims feel angry or jealous, their negative emotions increase. However, doing positive activities like jogging, journaling, or playing instruments can help turn them into positive emotions. You can develop Emotional Control in your Sims by doing mindful activities.

Empathy

Empathy is a character value that shows your Sims' ability to understand other Sims’ emotions and feelings. If they are mean in social interactions, yell at other Sims, troll them, or make fun of them, their Empathy value will decrease. On the other hand, playing with Sims, volunteering their time, or other good actions will increase this character value.

Conflict Resolution

This value means how well your Sims resolve issues at times of conflict. Simmers can increase this value by resolving a dispute, trying to fix bad relationships, and apologizing. As a Sim parent, teaching your children to say 'Sorry' boosts their Conflict Resolution trait. However, if you don't step in when Sims fight or argue, your Sims’ Conflict Resolution value will decrease.
