Vampires are the first occult introduced with The Sims 4: Vampires. Since it's not the first time vampires have been in the franchise, Simmers are familiar with the fanged fiends, but The Sims 4: Vampires adds its own twists. Occult Sims have special abilities, primarily particular diets and their own unique lore. The Sims 4 expands on this even more by giving vampires an entire Game pack rather than sharing the spotlight like in past titles, and it comes with multiple premade vampires and a dark, gloomy world called Forgotten Hollow.
Forgotten Hollow is a small world home to two vampire covens, and it is the perfect place for players to experience the darker side of life. While there is the option to play as one of the premade families, playing with a new vampire and shaping their story is a fun option as well. There are multiple paths to vampirism in The Sims 4: Vampires and this guide covers them.
Make A Vampire In Create A Sim
The fastest way to get a vampire Sim is to make one in CAS. Players should start with a new family, click "Add a Family Member," and choose the occult icon. Next, select the vampire icon, and voilà - one fanged and plasma-thirsty Sim is ready to be customized. Vampires have a standard form and a dark form that can be edited independently of each other or linked. Their Dark forms appear when they use vampire powers or feed on other Sims. In addition, layers can use special scars and bite marks to make their vampire Sims feel more natural.
WooHoo With A Vampire
Players could also get a vampire Sim by romancing a vampire and having a baby. Vampires aren't the hardest Sims to pursue in this way, with some of their vampire traits making them naturally flirty. Whenever the romance meter is high enough, Sims can try for a baby with them, and there's a 50% chance the child will be a vampire. Using the lot trait On a Dark Key Line increases these chances significantly.
Toddlers and Children don't show any vampire traits as they grow up. Instead, their abilities and plasma diet are dormant until they turn into Teen Sims.
Get Bitten By A Vampire
Those who want to undergo the entire turning process through gameplay can get bit by a vampire. Vampires are rather particular about where they spend their time because they are vulnerable to sunlight unless they have special powers. So, Sims can seek them out in Forgotten Hollow if they want to make friends. One of the pack's premade vamps, Vladislaus Straud, is also prone to make house calls whenever Sims first move into a neighborhood. After meeting a Vampire and becoming their friend, Sims can use the social interaction "Ask to Turn," which has a little bat symbol next to it. If the vampire agrees, they will transform into their dark form and bite the Sim.
Turning into a vampire takes a couple of days. Players can keep track of the progress by watching their Sim's moodlets. The first moodlet appears right after they are bitten and says, "Strangely Hungry," meaning that food has become unsatisfactory. A few hours later, the Sim will gain the "Disgusted by Food," moodlet and show signs of discomfort. The final moodlet before the change happens is "Appetite Lost," and eating food makes them nauseous until they finish their transformation. Finally, when the time comes, the screen jumps to the soon-to-be vampire, and they will float in the air and reveal their Dark form.
Vampire Powers
Vampire Sims are significantly faster and more robust than standard Sims. They also get a new needs panel that reflects their vampiric energy and thirst meters. Vampire energy fuels their vampire powers and can be replenished by hibernating or feeding from Sims. The Sims 4: Vampires keeps it PG-13 by having vampire Sims drink plasma instead of blood. Players who don't want to feed from other Sims can order plasma packets from a computer or make a plasma drink at a bar. Vampires are also somewhat immortal, as in they don't die from old age, but they can be killed by other types of deaths. The sunlight is particularly deadly for vampires, and they will need to avoid it at all costs unless players want a crispy Sim.
Vampires also have special abilities and powers they can equip using Power Points earned by using vampire powers, fighting other vampires, or studying Vampire Lore. However, if vampires have too many powers, they will have to take on a weakness that affects their social interactions, moods, or needs. Sims get access to more abilities as they level up into the different vampire statuses. All vampire Sims start as Rank 1 Fledgling and work their way up to Rank 5 Grand Master Vampire.
