Developer Frogwares has confirmed that The Sinking City will be getting an Unreal Engine 5 upgrade with enhanced visuals, a brand-new Photo Mode, and more with The Sinking City Remastered, which will be free for owners of the original game. The Lovecraftian action-horror game The Sinking City has developed a cult following since its initial launch, and fans can soon dive back into the terrors of Oakmont when The Sinking City Remastered releases for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

After The Sinking City Remastered was rated in Taiwan in February 2025, many began to speculate when the remaster would be officially announced. Just over a month after guesses started flying, Frogwares has confirmed that The Sinking City Remastered is on the way, with the studio also offering some teaser images to showcase the changes that will be found in the UE5 version of the game.

Currently in the middle of developing a sequel to The Sinking City, Frogwares has revealed a first look at The Sinking City Remastered, which will include a slew of graphical and performance improvements with Unreal Engine 5. The game originally launched for Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One in June 2019, before receiving PS5 and Xbox Series ports in 2021. The Sinking City follows investigator Charles Reed working to uncover the source of a devastating flood in the fictional city of Oakmont. Players are tasked with putting their detective skills to the test while experiencing increasingly bizarre and violent encounters with semi-humanoid inhabitants and aquatic monsters. Despite mixed reviews upon release, The Sinking City has developed a dedicated fandom, and developer Frogwares has used audience feedback to craft some quality-of-life improvements to allow more players to enjoy the game in The Sinking City Remastered.
