The White Orchid is the first major area Geralt will encounter on his long journey through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Accompanied by Vesemir, Geralt arrives after The Battle of White Orchid. It is in the location of Temeria, and the area has been annexed and is under the control of the Nifgardian army.
The White Orchid location serves as an introduction to The Witcher 3's mechanics and quest system. Whether it's hunting down monsters or performing investigations for the locals, there's a lot to see and do in the location.
Finding The White Orchid In The Witcher 3
After the dream sequence and tutorial at the Witcher's Keep training grounds in Kaer Morhen, Geralt and Vesemir will make their way to the area of The White Orchid. The duo will get attacked by Ghouls, but with dodges, rolls, parries, and quick attacks, the Witchers will make light work of them.
With the Ghouls defeated, a cutscene will begin with a conversation about The Witcher's Yennefer. After reading a letter from Yennefer with Vesemir, they set off to the nearest location to find her and embark on the Lilac and Gooseberries Quest.
The White Orchid isn't far from where the Witchers slept. Progressing further, they stumble across a man named Bram getting attacked by a Griffin. After a short cutscene, the Griffin makes its escape. Bram will tell the Witchers to go to the Inn in White Orchid and speak to the owner.
With the cutscene finished, follow Vesemir on horseback by holding down the X/A button on the controlle r. The Witchers will eventually arrive in White Orchid, with an Inn, a blacksmith, merchants, and some quests indicated by a yellow exclamation mark on the map.
Follow Vesimir into the Inn and speak to the Innkeeper and the Inn's patrons about Yennifer, the Griffin, and The Witcher 3's card game Gwent. With all the information from the people of the Inn exhausted, leaving will trigger Geralt's first big hunt for the Griffin with The Beast of White Orchid contract.
