The Witcher 4 and the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 have received positive updates from CD Projekt Red, as development on both titles appears to be full steam ahead. Although CD Projekt Red has numerous projects currently in the works, The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 appear to be the ones receiving top priority, as both titles continue to increase the number of developers working on them.
After the huge success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has become well-known as one of the top studios in the RPG genre. However, both titles had their issues at launch, with Cyberpunk 2077 being by far one of the most controversial titles to ever release. The futuristic RPG is now considered an all-time great, but when it was first released in 2020, it was a bug-ridden mess that fans were actively avoiding. But thanks to some serious dedication from the studio and plenty of updates to Cyberpunk 2077, it is now one of the best RPGs of the past decade. To such an extent that fans are eagerly awaiting its sequel, currently known as Cyberpunk 2.
Cyberpunk 2077: The Case for Project Orion to Follow the Sun Ending
Cyberpunk 2077's sequel has a few directions it could go based on which, if any, of its endings is canonized, with The Sun having much potential.
CD Projekt Red Increases Devs for The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2
Both The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 are likely still a few years away, with the latter probably being many, many years away, but CD Projekt Red has once again provided fans with a small development update on the titles and its many other projects. In a new post on Twitter, the studio has shared a chart displaying the development teams currently engaged in ongoing projects. The Witcher 4, which appears to be the studio's top priority, has 444 developers currently working on it, which is a 22-person increase from April. As for Cyberpunk 2, which is still in early stages of development, the sequel has risen from 96 developers to 116.
The latest update might not be much, but fans will be pleased to know the work on both titles is continuing to ramp up with more and more developers joining the projects each month. Back in May, CD Projekt Red shared the exciting news that Cyberpunk 2 had entered pre-production. The sequel was previously codenamed Project Orion, but now appears to be referred to as Cyberpunk 2. Whether or not this is the final title for the game remains unknown, although it seems unlikely. With the sequel now in pre-production, this means the conceptual phase has been completed, and prototypes for its gameplay will begin.
As for The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red provided fans with an incredible tech demo for the upcoming sequel. While it might not be a 100% accurate depiction of what the game will look like at launch, it did give fans a great idea of what to expect from the title. The nearly 10 minutes of footage showcased protagonist Ciri riding her horse through the wilderness of Kelpie before visiting the region of Kovir. The tech demo for The Witcher 4 blew fans away with its incredible details, immersive setting, high-density foliage, lively NPCs, and more.
