With The Witcher season four set to start a brand-new era for the popular Netflix fantasy series, production has now seemingly wrapped on the show as Freya Allen, who plays Ciri, posts an emotional farewell. It goes without saying that it was a sad moment in time for The Witcher fans when Henry Cavill decided to hang up his sword as Geralt of Rivia and more on from the beloved series. Praised by viewers for his accurate portrayal of the White Wolf and bringing a deeper and more meaningful dynamic to the character, the iconic monster-hunter soon found his replacement with The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth.
Recently, Hemsworth shared details about his filming experience for The Witcher season four, admitting that he hadn't watched the fantasy show before he took over Cavill's role in the series. Understandably, Hemsworth taking over the role from Cavill will definitely be a challenge, but many fans are keen to give the actor a chance as the new face of Geralt continues to endeavor in risky adventures through the dangerous world of the Continent.
Henry Cavill May Not Be The Only Cast Member Leaving The Witcher
It appears that Henry Cavill will not be the only witcher played by a different face in Season 4.
The Witcher Season Four Wraps With Freya Allen Saying Farewell to Co-Stars
According to Redanian Intelligence, who is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything and everything to do with The Witcher, season four has now wrapped up after seven months from when production first began in April. Filming started at Longcross studios, which also includes shots set in perfect The Witcher locations, such as Llyn Padarn in Wales, Zip World forest, Dolbadarn Castle and the National Slate Museum. One location, in particular, that many of The Witcher book lovers will recognize is Waverley Abbey, where they filmed a refugee camp and also where a scene involving Laurence Fishburne’s Regis will take place.
The Witcher's Ciri, played by Freya Allen on the Netflix show, also posted an emotional and heartfelt message to her co-stars as season four wrapped up. In the post on her personal Instagram, which Redanian Intelligence's Twitter account later captured, Allen said farewell to her co-stars, the Rats, by drawing stunning portraits of the show's Mistle, Iskra, Giselher, Reef, Kayleigh, and Asse. In the caption, Allen told the cast that she loved them all and thanked them for a special season of The Witcher.
In a recent sad turn of events, Henry Cavill wasn't the only cast member to leave The Witcher, as Kim Bodnia waved goodbye to his role as Vesemir. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Bodna had to step down as the iconic character as it didn't fit into his current shooting diary. Thankfully, many familiar faces from The Witcher's cast are still there for season four, which includes Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier, as well as new faces Laurence Fishburne, Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy and Clive Russell.
