The main questline in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is by no means short, but just because you've reached the end credits, doesn't mean that you've done everything that the realm of Azuma has to offer. There are still plenty of other side quests and activities to check off for those who aren't quite ready to step out of their role as the Earth Dancer and want to spend as much time in the game as possible. Here are 10 things to do after beating Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma to keep you busy in the post-game.

Start to build your own army of monsters in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and learn how to ride them.

1 Get Married, Have a Child, and Remarry

Family Comes First

Now that you've helped save the world, perhaps it's time you settled down with that special someone. While you've likely been working towards romancing a character during the main quest, the option to marry a character only becomes available towards the end of the main questline. As such, some players may not have managed to tie the knot and marry that special someone before reaching the end of the main story.

Marrying a character involves reaching the max bond level, going on some dating quests, and then getting Divine Spirits and a Red Plum Tree Branch. Once you're married, not long after you can choose to have a child and help raise the next generation of Azuma. Marrying and having a child are a nice way to tie a bow on your time in Guardians of Azuma, so it's well worth ticking this off first.

If you're looking to get all of the achievements in the game, you'll need to marry multiple characters. This can be done by heading to the Fateweaver Shrine and interacting with the Rewoven Fates mechanic (just to the right of the main building, next to a tree). By doing so, players can head into an alternate timeline where they can romance and marry a different character of their choosing. This won't lock you out of your current timeline either, so you don't have to worry about leaving anything behind permanently.

You can only create a new fate once you've married someone. This applies to any new fates you create, too. For example, you'll need to have married someone in Fate 1 and Fate 2 before you can shift to Fate 3.

2 Find All Frog Statues

Here Froggy Froggy

A young boy in the Spring Village is obsessed with the frog statues dotted around the world of Azuma and has asked for your help tracking them all down. To encourage you, he'll give you rewards for reaching certain milestones.

There are 204 to be found scattered across both the ground and the sky islands in the game, so be prepared to put some serious time in to get this one ticked off.

3 Max Out Your Equipment and Reach the Level Cap

Become the Most Powerful Earth Dancer

The main troublemakers may have been taken care of, but you're still going to come across some enemies while you're ticking off the remaining side quests and activities. Why not make sure you're equipped with the most powerful gear you can get your hands on to help keep battles nice and simple? Plus, it adds to the whole power fantasy element that comes with a good RPG adventure.

While you're at it, it makes sense to keep leveling up to level 100. By the time you finish the main questline, you're likely going to be around the level 92-95 mark, so this won't take too much longer if you replay some of the boss battles and defeat enemies as you're completing the remaining quests.

4 Max Out Village Levels and Character Bonds

Be Everyone's Favorite Person

Just because you're married, doesn't mean you're done with the social side of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. There are still plenty of characters to get to know better, and bonding quests to help them complete. While these don't typically add a ton of gameplay, they are a nice way to get to know the characters better and build upon the lore of the game.

Once you're done with the characters, don't forget about each of the four villages. Leveling up your villages can net you even more rewards, and means you can help them realize their full potential.

5 Complete Your PescaPedia

A Master Angler of Azuma

The Winter Village's Watarase tasks you with completing their PescaPedia by fishing in different locations and at different times of the day. There are 45 different fish to find across the whole of Azuma, and some of them can only be caught on islands in the sky.

This can make for a fun little side quest and helps you to explore parts of the world that you might not have reached during the main story.

6 Track Down All of Yoichi's Targets

Bullseye!

As you've been exploring Azuma, you might have noticed different targets hiding about the place. There are eight different targets that Yoichi has hidden throughout the world, and by the time I'd finished the main quest, I'd only found four of them.

Shoot all of Yoichi's targets, and he'll congratulate you on your magnificent marksmanship skills. He'll give you Yoichi's Bow crafting recipe and the Yoichi's Target decoration. The bow has 1549 ATK, which makes it a good option but not the best bow in the game by any means.

7 Find and Identify All Mushrooms

Funky Fungi

Mr Fungus lives on an island in the sky and has mastered the art of identifying mushrooms. He'd like your help gathering and identifying said mystery mushrooms in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, so you'll need to pick up as many mystery mushrooms as you can from around the world and identify them with him.

There are 30 different unique mushrooms to identify, and some will take multiple attempts to identify correctly. It's very much a glorified fetch quest, but it's a pretty fun one all the same, especially thanks to Mr Fungus' facial expressions. To thank you for your work, you'll be given the Mushroom Replica decorative item to place in your villages. A small reward, but it's a quest for completionists to tick off all the same.

8 Roll All Onigiri Down a Hole

The Most Annoying Song

The 'Roll, Roll, Roll Your Onigiri' side quest has a few different elements to it. First, you'll need to find the six different holes in the ground dotted around the world of Azuma, and then you'll need to figure out which Onigiri the voice in each hole wants.

After you've given the last, correct Onigiri to the sixth hole, you'll be given the Onigiri Replica decorative item to place in your village. However, for each hole that you successfully deliver the correct Onigiri to, you'll also receive some cooking recipes.

9 Help the Sage of Sweets

Become a Culinary Conqueror

The Sage of Sweet is another character that lives in the skies of Azuma, this time at Bamboo Shoot Villa. He wants to try new confectionery recipes, and you'll be the person to provide them.

There are six different desserts to serve the Sage of Sweet, each increasing in complexity as you go. If you've been stockpiling ingredients, you might have some of these in your inventory already, which will help speed the process up. However, it's worth noting that some of the later desserts are at a higher level, meaning you'll need level 3 and even level 4 ingredients in some cases to achieve the desired level.

After completing the quest, you'll be given three different dessert recipes and the Precious Ladle decorative item for your village. It might not be much, but at least you get to put your cooking skills to the test one last time.

10 Win Every Village Contest

The Undisputed Champion of Competitions

Village contests are a completely optional activity in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, but each one has an achievement tied to it. These contests require you to first arrange and then take part in, with some tasking you to produce the best quality crop, or reel in the largest fish within a set time limit.

While simple in premise, beating some of the fellow villagers in some of these will require you to be at the top of your game. For example, you're going to want to bring a high-level, giant crop to win the harvest competition. There are also a number of cooking contests where you'll need to cook with high-quality ingredients to beat the competition. By completing all village contests, you'll unlock the following achievements:

  • Cooking Contest
  • Quick Meal Contest
  • Curry Contest
  • Harvest Contest
  • Freshwater Fishing Frenzy
  • Saltwater Fish Contest
  • Pond Smelt Catch Contest
  • Squid Catch Contest
