Mario Kart World is the most sprawling entry in the series to date. With a huge open world to free roam around, Grand Prix and Knockout Tour modes, and the ability to take part in 24-player races, there's a huge amount of content to keep you drifting, boosting, and banana-skinning your way around tracks for countless hours. But once players have checked off the Grand Prix and Knockout Tour modes, what else is there to move on to? Here are nine things to do after beating Mario Kart World.

Those who are just getting started in Mario Kart World on the Switch 2 can race ahead of the competition with these beginner tips.
1 Unlock and Beat Mirror Mode
A Real Challenge
Just because you've unlocked the Special Cup in Grand Prix mode and completed the Knockout Tours in the game, doesn't mean you're done with racing solo just yet. A Mirror Mode, which reverses the twists and turns of every track, can be unlocked. This requires players to beat all Grand Prix on 150CC, complete all eight Knockout Tour rallies, collect 10 Peach Medallions, and beat at least 10 of the P-Switch challenges in Free Roam mode.
That in itself is quite the mission for players to beat, but once it's done, there's then the small task of actually getting gold in Mirror Mode. Re-learning each track takes some getting used to and taking on the fairly difficult AI racers will put your skills to the test.
2 Collect All Peach Medallions
So Many Medallions
Peach Medallions are large, collectible coins scattered throughout Mario Kart World's Free Roam mode. Each one you collect will unlock a new Sticker for your collection, which you can then use to decorate your kart. Collecting all of these Peach Medallions is a real completionist's challenge, as it appears there are around 150 of them to find.
Finding them is one thing, but collecting them is another. You'll need to master jumping, grinding on rails, and using items like the Feather to collect them.
Remember that Mario Kart World has a rewind feature. This can save a ton of time between attempts if you keep failing to reach one, especially if they involve a jump.
3 Unlock All Karts and Characters
Complete the Roster
It wouldn't be a Mario Kart game if there weren't a number of different characters and karts for you to unlock. There are 18 different characters players can unlock (not to mention their various outfits which we'll get to later), and 29 karts. While characters have specific unlock requirements, a new random kart is unlocked after every 100 coins you collect. That means you're going to need nearly 3,000 coins before you'll have unlocked all of the karts.
As for characters, some require you to be turned into a character by the Kamek item. There is some RNG involved here, as the character that Kamek turns you into is completely random, and it's not guaranteed that the item will be used in every race you partake in. That means you'll need to keep racing until you've unlocked them all.
4 Complete All P-Switch Challenges
Free Roam Challenges Galore!
P-Switch challenges in Mario Kart World's Free Roam mode will challenge you to complete certain tasks within set time limits or other criteria. They make for an enjoyable little test of your skills and reward you with a sticker for completing them. It's estimated that there are over 450 of the blue switches scattered across the open world, so there's plenty for players to check off if they want to say they've beaten every test that the game has to offer.
These are also just pretty fun to complete, and yet again reward you with a sticker to add to your collection. There's nothing better than finally beating a P-Switch challenge you've been stuck on for ages. Plus, they make for a nice break between marathon online sessions, meaning they're perfect for chipping away at over the coming months.
5 Find All? Panels
Sneaky Collectibles
Free Roam has one other collectible for players to track down, and these come in the form of the? Panels. These have the same design as the question mark blocks that Mario would bonk his head on to get mushrooms or coins out of in his platforming adventures. However, here, they're plastered on walls, floors, and wherever else they can be tucked away out of sight.
Each track that helps comprise the Free Roam map in Mario Kart World has five? Panels to find in their vicinity, totaling 150 of them. Much like the other collectibles in Free Roam mode, you'll also get a sticker for finding each one.
Make sure to use rewind if you keep failing to reach one of the panels, as this will save you a ton of time. If you're struggling to find one of the remaining? Panels, look for the green binoculars dotted around each track. Driving into these will let you use them to check your surroudings for any collectibles you've yet to find.

6 Learn the Best Shortcuts
Give Yourself the Upper Hand
Becoming a master in Mario Kart World isn't just about perfecting your drifts, memorizing the courses, and learning how and when to effectively use your items. It's also about using the shortcuts on each track to give yourself a huge advantage over the competition. While some of these are hidden in plain sight and require you to have a boost to skip across mud or sand to get the benefit of using them, others are more tucked away.
Take the hidden, grindable rail on Mario Bros. Circuit, for example. Players can boost through some tires just to the left after the start line to grind a secret rail that'll take you zooming around the first corner. There are plenty more of these to be found across all of the tracks in Mario Kart World, so use Free Roam to explore the nooks and crannies of each course and learn where your boost and some serious driving skills can shave seconds off your lap time.
7 Head Online and Start Improving Your Player Rating
Put Your Skills to the Test
At this stage, you've more or less done everything that Mario Kart World has to offer beyond a final collectible clear-up. With all your driving techniques mastered through P-Switch challenges, and reaching? Panels and Peach Medallions, you can now put all of that to use by heading online and taking on other racers.
Every time you finish a race, you'll earn points depending on where you place. The higher you place, the more points you'll earn, and these will go towards your player rating (also known as versus rating). This is the number next to your name in online multiplayer modes, and also within the menu options. At the time of writing, the versus rating doesn't appear to determine what multiplayer lobbies you're placed into (I was in a lobby with a rating of 3,000 in my first online race against players with over 7,000), but it is a nice way to highlight your kart-racing prowess to friends and other online players.
8 Complete Sticker and Outfit Sets
Gotta Collect 'Em All
If you've done everything else on this list at this point, you may have already completed your sticker and outfit sets. But for those who haven't and want the ultimate completionist save file, this is one of the final tasks you'll need to do. Unlocking costumes or outfits for each character is done through picking up meals from Yoshi's Diners dotted around tracks and the Free Roam map, with there being a total of 108 to unlock. Then it's just a case of ticking off the remaining stickers. It appears there are well over 200 of the things to collect, but most of these will be checked off by completing those P-Switch missions and other Free Roam activities.
9 Challenge Your Friends to Time Trials
Earn the Ultimate Bragging Rights
Now it's time to show your friends who the master of Mario Kart is. The Time Trial mode not only allows you to see how you compare to other racers around the world, but you can also see how you compare against your friends. This is the perfect opportunity to take everything you've learned and execute it perfectly. Nail those shortcuts, use your triple mushrooms wisely, and maximize the boosts you get from drifts, jumps, rail grinds, and tricks to set the fastest time you possibly can around all of the tracks in the game.
Plus, if beating out your friends wasn't enough, you can set your eyes on world domination and aim for the best time on every track in the world.
