It’s not uncommon for anime shows to produce a spin-off series starring fan-favorite characters. There’s KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World featuring the fan-favorite Megumin, A Certain Scientific Accelerator starring Accelerator himself, and The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan focusing on Nagato Yuki, to name a few. At this point, it would not be surprising if one day fans received news of a Solo Leveling spin-off series starring this popular character.

Even among the many hunters in the series, Beru manages to stand out and becomes a fan favorite without being the main character, a love interest, or even fully human. Should a spin-off about Beru be produced sometime in the future, there’s a strong chance it would be successful thanks to the massive support he receives from the fandom.

Understandably, Beru is unique among the characters in Solo Leveling. Once an unstoppable killing machine with zero remorse, Beru transforms into a devoted ally, capable of leading Jin-Woo's army of shadows. Who would have thought that the monstrous Ant King from Jeju Island could experience character development more impactful than that of many hunters in the series?

He was created by the Ant Queen to become an apex predator, meant to consume everything there is to consume in the world. Without a doubt, he was a force of nature, nearly wiping out Japan’s S-rank hunters in the blink of an eye. And yet, despite everything the fans have seen, many questions still linger about the Ant King’s origins.

A spin-off series focusing on the Ant King’s origins could offer a deeper look into his story, both before and after his birth. After all, the main series briefly touched on this part of the narrative, as the Ant King leaps into battle almost immediately after emerging. But a closer look at the brutal ecosystem of the colony, the Ant Queen’s intelligence, and the unique process that led to the Ant King being bred differently from the rest of his kind could be incredibly compelling, especially if it’s told from Beru’s perspective.

He steals every scene he’s in, whether he's acting like a drama king, an overly obsessed Jin-Woo fan, or an egoistic and prideful shadow who clearly sees himself as superior to the rest. And despite his terrifying appearance and revolting aura, fans can’t resist him at all. In other words, Beru’s unique personality is a goldmine for deeper development, making him a perfect candidate for a spin-off.

With so many layers to Beru’s character, it’s easy to come up with an interesting concept for his very own spin-off series. For example, a comedy series that centers on Beru and Jin-Woo's family. Since Beru watched over Jin-Ah and their mother for quite some time in the original series, it’s fun to imagine what they’re all up to while Jin-Woo is busy saving the world. From watching historical dramas to eating together to surfing the net, Beru spends so much time with them that he eventually picks up some of their hobbies himself.

A shadow-centric series with Beru stepping in as the temporary commander while Jin-Woo is away or on vacation should be an exciting hybrid of comedy and action.

All in all, Beru has everything it takes to carry his own spin-off series.
