The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025 has been a big deal in terms of reveals, announcements, and new info. Not only did the event show off some new games and bring to light new details on known projects, an entirely new IP has been unveiled thanks to the show. While plenty of RPGs have been announced for 2026 and beyond, these upcoming role-playing games are especially exciting.

Darksiders 4

Darksiders has been on a vague horizon ever since last year, when THQ Nordic not-so-subtly teased more to come from the franchise. This THQ Nordic Digital Showcase, however, was thankfully prepared to share even just a little bit more with another tease confirming all four Horsemen.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tides

Purple Lamp will be bringing fans of the SpongeBob SquarePants 3D platformer series (previously including Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated and Cosmic Shake) a new entry in the form of Titans of the Tides. Sharing a ghostly focus with the upcoming Search for SquarePants movie, the title will see SpongeBob and Patrick travel across Bikini Bottom to calm the egos of the Flying Dutchman and King Neptune after the two began a spat in the Krusty Krab. Players will be able to switch between SpongeBob and Patrick on the go, leveraging Patrick's unique platforming abilities (such as grappling and burrowing). Otherwise, the game will more-or-less play in a similar manner as previous games in the series, done-up with Unreal Engine 5 graphics.

Big fans of SpongeBob's renaissance in gaming might be interested in the deluxe version of the game, nicknamed the Ghostly Edition, which comes with a patch, chain, steelbook, and in-game content. Those that have yet to dip their toes into the sponge's gaming output may want to start with a bang and consider the new collection rolling out alongside Titans of the Tides, which will include all three Purple Lamp SpongeBob games with all DLC.

Gothic Remake

The remake of Gothic saw new details unveiled at THQ Nordic's showcase. The game, a remake of the 2001 RPG that kicked off the IP, got shared a great deal of new footage—showing off the ways in which the old game has been updated with modern visuals. This more in-depth look at the upcoming remake will give fans of the series key insight as to how the title is carrying out its mission: recreating the original Gothic as faithfully as possible.

The Guild: Europa 1410

The next reveal at the THQ Nordic 2025 showcase saw another new spin on an old title, though not quite in the sense of a remake. The Guild: Europa 1410 is an upcoming economic simulation strategy game that's being headed up by Ashbourne Games and developed using Unreal Engine 5. This new entry in the The Guild franchise will primarily delineate from Europa 1400: The Guild, the title that kicked off the series. Players will start from the bottom and work their way up through dynamic city-building strategy gameplay, which will see fans contend with a whole host of economic and political machinations. Europa 1410 will not only sport improved graphics compared to its sibling games, but a greater focus on Dynasties, city expansion, smuggling, and much more.

Tides of Tomorrow

Tides of Tomorrow is another title falling under THQ Nordic's publishing wing that's already been made public. Set for February 24th 2026, the game will be an 'asynchronous' multiplayer adventure. The adventures of players in-game will be shaped by the decisions of other players, all stranded in similar situations on boat civilizations that orbit a flooded world. Players will choose destinations that follow in the footsteps of players that came before them, and will have to deal with whatever consequences arose from the actions of prior players. Tides also clearly has an environmental message about climate change and ensuing rising sea levels, which the devs themselves have admitted. As the consequences of climate change become present realities more and more, it's unlikely that Tides of Tomorrow will be alone in its commentary in the coming years.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel Remaster

The action RPG Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is getting itself a remaster—and with a planned release window of Q4 2025 to boot. Included within the upcoming remaster is, purportedly, the most stable version of the game. Devs and fans reportedly worked side-by-side to deliver countless bug fixes in addition to improved controls (with the bonus of both keyboard and controller support). Textures and VFX will also see an upgrade, and the game will come complete with every update and community patch, as well as the Ice and Blood expansion. Ice and Blood has never been available on consoles previously, marking the remaster as the expansion's debut on Xbox and PlayStation devices.

Fatekeeper

Inspired by the cancelled Techland game Hellraid, which was converted into a mod for Dying Light, Fatekeeper will marry classic RPGs with modern graphics and tight, linear design. Developed by a small team in the Alps, Fatekeeper will focus on refined combat mechanics within an RPG structure, one sharpened into a more linear storytelling structure. Players will need to pay close attention to timing when fighting off foes, and will be able to pull from an arsenal of special moves that stretch beyond light and heavy attacks.

To aid their endeavors, players will also have access to a variety of spells and items, the latter of which hide additional mechanics that only come to light under close inspection. When it comes to inspecting items, the first-person action title is being developed in Unreal Engine 5—meaning that every detail will be available for examination. This fidelity will also be of use during exploration; while Fatekeeper won't be an open-world game, maps won't be a straight line. Though these stages won't be overly open, they will include branching trajectories and a variety of loot, puzzles, and combat challenges.
