Every now and then, as a player goes through Throne and Liberty, they will encounter a Codex side quest that will test them in new ways. While there are plenty of these quests that will aim to help them test their combat prowess or physical in-game abilities, there are some that will make them use their brain to try and figure it out. One of these quests is the Demon's Test, a Codex entry that is unlocked in the Manawastes area of the map, to the northeast of Santuary Oasis. This area is best explored once a player is around Level 44 or 45, but this quest can be tackled even before that.
Throne And Liberty: What Gaming Laptop Should You Get?
Throne and Liberty has plenty to offer to gamers across multiple platforms this year, but is your gaming laptop up to speed?
Luckily, this quest does not rely on having to fight any enemies that may be too strong and can easily overpower a character. Instead, this quest is all about solving puzzles, three of them in fact, and these can be just as tough. It is not a surprising thing to find a player stuck beating their head against the wall to try and solve one of these puzzles to no avail. Fortunately, this guide is here to break down how exactly a player can beat these puzzles and bring this quest to a close.
How To Complete Demon's Test
Over the course of the Demon's Test quest, players will have to complete five objectives:
- Examine Junobote's Experiment Log at Manawastes
- Pass the first test by Junobote
- Pass the second test by Junobote
- Pass the third test by Junobote
- Acquire the reward left behind by Junobote
Here is how to do each of these:
Examine Junobote's Experiment Log
The log that sets this whole quest in motion can be found in the Manawastes area, overlooking a small arena-like spot. It is west of the Manawastes Waystone, and players will need to climb up the rock next to the spot in order to drop to where the Experiment Log is.
It is sitting on a pedestal and players just need to interact with it to begin the quest. It starts with Junobote speaking to you and transporting you to a different realm.
Pass The First Test
The first test tasks players with solving a riddle to figure out what kind of creature they have to form in a shadow using three different objects. To save people some time, the answer to the riddle is a unicorn, so they can turn their attention to the three objects on turnable pedestals that they must manipulate.
The three objects are statues of a horse, an eagle, and a sword. To start, turn the horse statue until its shadow is facing the left. This is the backbone of the image and the rest is easy to figure out from here.
Next, turn the eagle so that only the wings can be seen, and they are connected to the horse's back. This is now done.
The final statue - the sword - needs to be turned until its shadow appears to be a horn coming out of the horse's head. This will complete the puzzle and open a teleport circle to take the player to the next step.
Throne And Liberty: How To Get Vitalstones
Vitalstones are tough to get ahold of in Throne and Liberty, but they can be invaluable for those willing to put in the work.
Pass The Second Test
The second puzzle is trickier than the first, and it involves interacting with the statue here to play a series of notes. As it plays these notes, symbols of different colors will appear in front of it. These colors will correspond to the seven crystals in front of the statue.
The goal is to memorize the colors of each note and then hit the crystals in the same order that the statue plays them, matching its tune and rhythm.
This is far easier said than done, so here is a simple breakdown of the solution: when looking at the crystals, imagine each one has a number from 1 to 7, left to right. With that in mind, here is the order to play the crystals: 2, 5, 6, 4, 3, 1, 3, 2.
Once the notes have been played, another teleportation circle will appear for players to use.
Pass The Third Test
The final test of the quest is even tougher, and it involves using five different crystals that will each raise or lower certain golems standing in front of the player. The goal is to get them all at the same level, but the trick is that each crystal will change more than one of the golems, which makes getting them on the same level all the more difficult.
Much like the last test, imagine each crystal has a number assigned to it, 1 to 5, from left to right. With that in mind, here is the correct order: 2, 4, 3, 3, 5, 5.
This will trigger another teleportation circle that players can take to the last step.
Acquire The Reward
The final step is an easy one, as the player will be transported to the top of the golems where they need to follow the path they created to where they can interact with an item for one more interaction with Junobote.
After this brief conversation, they can take the item next to them, and then they'll be taken back to the game world and the quest will be finished.
