Summary
- Guardians in Throne And Liberty enhance diversity through form shifting.
- Most effective Guardian is Green Ranger Elowen; OP with consistent bindings.
- Shade Revenant Stheno excels in enemy groups, intense DPS & projectile spam.
When it comes to build customizability, there are few MMOs out there that make it both as accessible and as in-depth as NCSoft's latest fantasy MMO, Throne And Liberty. Whether as a wise old wizard casting Chain Lightning with their staff before swiftly switching to a greatsword for Deathblow or as an Aragorn-like rogue archer who prefers a more grounded approach, nothing is really off the table. Upon completion of the Chapter 5 Mission, "Sacred Pledge of Blood - Pledge Loop," players unlock the ability to wield Guardians.
Throne And Liberty: 10 Best Greatsword Skills
These Greatsword skills are essential for maximizing DPS and resource recovery in Throne and Liberty.
Guardians add another layer to class diversity, acting as rewards for exploration quests that, when equipped, allow the player to assume the form of a defeated enemy for thirty seconds. Each guardian has their own buffs and passives when in use, and they're an invaluable asset in the quest against Kazar. Their abilities can quickly turn the tide of battle, whether siphoning health from foes or randomly firing random projectiles. They act as a player's ultimate ability and subsequently carry a pretty hefty ten-minute cooldown, so picking the right one is essential.
7 Masked Warlock Dantalux

The Voice Behind the Mask quest in Stoneguard by Sandworm's Lair |
When using Mana, you recover 26% of the used Mana. 53% of your nearest party member's Mana is also recovered. |
Though clearly meant for magic-based skillsets, it's tough to find a situation where Dantalux really excels. For a Guardian that can only be used every ten minutes, it doesn't really make much sense to dedicate a Guardian slot solely to Mana recovery.
As a resource, Mana doesn't seem to be sparse enough for this Guardian to be regularly used unless in very specific situations. He does look very cool - but for PvE and solo players, there's no real reason to use Dantalux as a Guardian - especially when compared to the versatility and usefulness of the rest of the roster.
6 Brutal Warrior Valkarg
Best Saved For Those One-On-Ones
|
How To Acquire |
Guardian Effects |
|---|---|
|
Desert Plunderer Quest in Camel Trade |
Accumulates damage when hit up to 4000% of your Max Base Damage. When you inflict Stun, Bind, or Sleep on an enemy, 25% of that accumulated damage is dealt to that enemy. |
It is ideal for Tanks but is typically only effective against one enemy at a time. Thirty seconds isn't enough time to consistently sustain and dish out damage to multiple enemies. Killing one enemy is excellent, but more often than not, there's far more than one foe to manage.
Throne And Liberty: Tips For Picking The Best Guild For You
Choosing a Guild in Throne and Liberty can be an important decision for those who wish to participate. Here's what players should know.
Brutal Warrior Valkarg is generally best for Tanks against dungeon bosses, particularly when adequately sustaining the necessary aggro to charge their big wind-up attack. Sword and Shield is the best weapon to use in conjunction with this Guardian, primarily because players who aren't focusing on ensuring their health is up-to-par can quickly fall in battle before really benefitting from this Guardian. Unfortunately, this one just falls short in its damage output, and numerous more reliable options exist.
5 Pale Nemesis Hartach
Turn Invisible After Every Kill
|
How To Acquire |
Guardian Effect |
|---|---|
|
Farewell Quest in The Watcher's Post |
When an enemy target is defeated within 3 seconds, you will Hide for 5 seconds. At night, Hide time is increased to 7.2 seconds. Every first attack made while Hiding lands as Critical Hit. |
In the right situations, this Guardian can be compelling. For talented Dagger-wielders who focus on hefty crits, when the stars align, Pale Nemesis Hartach can pave the way for some pretty impressive plays.
Guaranteed Critical Hits and being able to go in and out of an invisible state is excellent for groups of weaker enemies but less ideal for bosses. Given that there are no passive effects to directly damage enemies or improve defense, it's an exceedingly contextual Guardian.
4 Vampire Slayer Ezekiel
All Around Solid Guardian

|
Complete Chapter 5's Sacred Pledge of Blood |
Defense Increases by 400. Deals damage over time equal to 0.6% of your Max Health per second to hostile targets within a 2.5m Radius. Restores Health by 20% of damage dealt to those targets. |
Being the first Guardian players will unlock, Ezekiel is surprisingly well-rounded and pretty consistently reliable, no matter the situation. The defense boost is effective for tank builds, while the life-steal effect applied to nearby enemies, although it lacks serious damage, is still beneficial.
Throne and Liberty: How To Level Up Morphs
Run, glide, and swim through Solisium faster by leveling up your Morphs in Throne and Liberty.
The only downsides do come from the low damage of the AoE attack, and as nice as the defense buff is, there are other Guardians out there that are far better for people wishing to tank a lot of damage.
3 Lady Knight Kamarshea
An Invaluable Life-Saver
|
How To Acquire |
Guardian Effect |
|---|---|
|
Daybreak Shore's Elemental Tree Harvest Quest |
Creates a Shield for 50% of your maximum Mana. While the Shield is up, increases Cooldown Speed by 40%. This Summon will be canceled if the Shield is Removed. |
By far the most reliable defensive Guardian, the ever-noble Lady Knight Kamarshea's shield is ridiculously strong and significant for the slightly squishier ranged classes. The cooldown bonus can, at times, also be very handy.
Though there are no directly damaging abilities, it's hard to deny just how much of a life-saver this Guardian is. It's always great to go into a large-scale fight with this Guardian on full charge, whether for use as a fail-state or for tanks dedicated to pulling every mob in sight.
2 Green Ranger Elowen
Too Good To Pass Up
|
How To Acquire |
Guardian Effects |
|---|---|
|
Elemental Tree Harvest Quest in The Nesting Grounds |
On Summoning, has an 80% chance to Bind all enemies in a 4m radius for 5s. While Summoned, attacking any targets affected by Bind and Move Speed de-buffs will increase Melle, Range, and Magical Critical Hit by 500 |
As a Guardian, Green Ranger Elowen is probably powerful enough to warrant a nerf in the future. The ability to engage with multiple enemies and immediately Bind them is insanely powerful for melee builds.
Throne And Liberty: Cave Of Desperation Dungeon Guide
The Cave of Desperation dungeon delivers some tough ant-based encounters for intrepid adventurers in Throne and Liberty.
The added crit chance is also exceedingly potent. Given that when Binded, there's not all that much enemies can do for 5 seconds to prevent players from getting those devastating Crits. This Guardian does excel in melee and with crossbow skillsets - there's no real downside to using Elowen, given that this Guardian is so immensely capable.
1 Shade Revenant Stheno
Perfect For Those Pesky Spider Swarms
|
How To Acquire |
Guardian Effect |
|---|---|
|
For Whom The Bell Tolls quest inside the Ruins of Turayne |
Launches 5 projectiles at random enemies within a 10m range every second. A single enemy may be hit with multiple projectiles at the same time. Each projectile deals 52% of Base Damage. |
When it comes to groups of enemies, few can boost player DPS quite like Shade Revenant Stheno. Though determined Star Fragment seekers may not be able to unlock this Guardian until they're at a slightly higher level, the passive projectiles launched toward multiple enemies are perfect for those tense scenarios where players find their group surrounded.
Paired best with a build that specializes in up-close-and-personal combat, the typical weapon that this Guardian synergizes best with is the precise and deadly dual daggers. This Guardian excels at burst damage and is generally just incredibly versatile. The high damage and consistent output will regularly help squeeze players out the other side of those dangerous dungeons. Whether it's mobs or bosses, Stheno will make short work of them.
