Making one of these weapons a Greatsword means improving both your survivability and melee damage potential. This can make it a great pick for both tanks and DPS players. Players will only be able to equip two weapons at a time but will be able to freely swap between them. So, deciding which weapon will be paired with a Greatsword will be a very important decision.

1 Ranger

Pairing the Greatsword with the Longbow will result in the Ranger class. This is a very glassy build without access to a lot of escape options. This means it is a class that can get utterly torn apart if players do not have a full grasp of how to play it. Beginners should avoid these builds and get some more experience in the game before making a character with these two weapons in mind.

Luckily, this class makes up for these weaknesses with some great burst damage and its crowd control skills. Players will need to alternate between different Skill rotations depending on the situation at hand. Players can also act as secondary support to heal themselves and their allies when the need arises. Players who choose a hard-to-play build may want to experiment with remapping their buttons to see if it makes things simpler.

2 Sentinel

Greatsword + Staff

Difficulty to Master: Easy

Sentinels are an easy-to-play option for players who want to be dealing a lot of damage on the frontline. They excel at picking a target and relentlessly wailing at it, dealing massive damage in the process. While this build is not as tanky as one with a Sword and Shield, its survivability is high enough to consider this a hybrid DPS/tank class.

Just like with the Ranger, players will want to juggle when they are dealing damage, and when they are on Crowd Control. Trying to do both at the same time will see neither of the two being optimally implemented. This build has lots of self-buffs they will want a lot of uptime for, as well as high-damage Skills to act as finishing blows. Players may want to consider having one of their weapons as a Crossbow to help them clear PvE dungeons at a faster rate.

3 Outrider

Crossbows are a great way to add both range and damage to any build, and the Outrider shines as one of the best DPS options for players who want their other weapon to be a Greatsword. Players will be able to deal damage at any range, and will also be able to close the gap on their targets.

They can choose to deal out a consistent rate of DPS or funnel a ton of close-knit burst damage to a vulnerable target. Players will want to master Weak Point Shot, as this will significantly raise the overall damage of the group while targeting the same foe.

4 Ravager

Greatsword + Daggers

Primary Stat: Strength
Difficulty to Master: High

Just like the Crossbows, Daggers will thrust the wielder into high DPS territory. Players will see a spike in their critical hit performance and have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. Their increased mobility and escape options mean players can play extremely aggressively and see some outstanding damage numbers. This is an ideal choice for making PvP Builds in Throne and Liberty.

This weapon pairing has two major drawbacks. First is how glassy it is compared to some of the other classes. Second is how hard it is to master. Players will need to put in a lot of time and effort to know when to escape from a tricky situation. Players will want a streamlined high-damage skill rotation that will give them room to switch things up at a moment's notice before diving right back into it.

5 Crusader

Greatsword + Sword and Shield

Difficulty to Master: Easy

When players choose to equip a character with the Sword and Shield weapon type, they’ve made a tank. However, when paired with the Greatsword, they have a tank that will tear their foes apart. This build has ridiculously high survivability thanks to its high HP and health regeneration. Crusaders are phenomenal in every aspect of the game, and making a build of one will be perfect for new players and veterans alike.

What's more is that it is very easy to play thanks to needing to repeat a simple Skill rotation, with the only deviation to make itself more tanky — this comes in the form of using Immortal Pride and Stalwart Bastion. Stopping one's standard damage rotation to use these skills will slow down their damage output, but can allow them to outlast their target to finish it off first. New players can use one to level up, play PvE, play PvP, and even take part in Throne and Liberty GvG events such as Castle Siege.
