Success in Thronefall greatly hinges on your ability to efficiently manage both your army and the economy. While building a strong military is important to protect your kingdom from progressively more challenging enemy forces, raising enough gold is also equally important to upgrade the military and vital defense structures of your kingdom.
Knowing how to consistently generate gold is key to both bolstering your kingdom's defenses and upgrading key structures to their maximum potential. Here are some of the most efficient ways to build a prosperous economy in Thronefall.
Thronefall: How To Get All Crowns
Securing all crowns in Thronefall requires completing all associated quests for each level.
Focus On Building Residential Buildings
Residential buildings generate one gold per night, and upgrading them increases their gold production by 1. Early in the game, it's best to focus on building multiple level 1 houses and upgrading the Castle Center to level 2. A level 2 Castle Center allows you to pick one special perk, including the Builder's Guild perk that automatically upgrades all level 1 houses to level 2.
Please note that any residential structure destroyed in battle will not produce any gold the next morning, so protecting them from enemy forces is equally important to sustain a consistent gold income. However, the Resilient Residences perk allows even destroyed houses to produce gold the morning after a battle.
Build Gold Mines When You're Running Low On Gold
Gold mines work differently from residential structures in how they generate gold. Gold mines initially produce 8 gold per night, but the output declines by -1 gold per night for the rest of the level. Building a gold mine just when you're running out of gold can be a game saver, as they are an excellent source of high income, and should be treated as a backup source of income during tough economic situations.
Since gold mines generate high gold output in the first few days after they are built, relying on this feature will allow you to overcome potential economic crises and quickly bounce back into the game.
Thronefall: How To Command Units
Commanding your troops in Thronefall enables you to adopt a strategic and proactive approach on the battlefield.
Build Harbors Early
Some levels in Thronefall will provide you with an option to build Harbors to generate additional income. Harbors start with zero boats and acquire one boat each night, to a maximum of five boats. Gold income from Harbors is tied to the number of boats in the Harbor.
However, you can double this income by upgrading the Harbor for the second time. Harbors are a great source of gold income, and it's recommended to prioritize building them in levels where there is an option to build one. The Big Harbors perk increases the capacity of boats that a Harbor can hold from five to seven, and increases the building's maximum health by 100%, but they also cost 3 additional gold if you choose to upgrade them to level 2.
Pick The Right Perks
In Thronefall, you can pick five perks when starting a map. Perks are an excellent way to tailor your gameplay experience on a map, such as by improving defenses, bolstering your character's health and damage output, and even increasing gold production.
Here are the four best perks available in Thronefall that will boost your economy:
- Royal Mint: Allows the Castle Center to generate 1, 2, or 3 gold at the end of battle, depending on its upgrade level.
- Big Harbors: Increases the capacity of boats docked in Harbors from 5 to 7, and the Harbor's health by 100%.
- Treasure Hunter: You earn +15, +25, and +30 gold when defeating the last three waves in the level.
- Interest: You earn 1 additional gold for every 3 gold you save every night, but the maximum gold in your chest should not be over 20.
If you're still early in the game, you might not have access to some of these listed perks. You unlock perks by naturally progressing through the game.
