FOXHOUND Rank Requirements in MGS Delta: Snake Eater
Achieving the FOXHOUND rank in your playthrough of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has several requirements that you'll need to fulfill. Completing these requirements will be the toughest challenge you'll face in the game, apart from playing MGS Delta: Snake Eater on European Extreme.
- Difficulty: Complete a playthrough on either Extreme or European Extreme modes.
- Playtime: Your playthrough of the game should be completed within 5 hours or less.
- Continues: You'll have to complete the entire playthrough without dying even once.
- Alerts: Players must rely on stealth to navigate the game's various maps without alerting enemies at any point.
- Human Kills: You must dispatch enemies and bosses non-lethally, as killing them will deprive you of the FOXHOUND rank.
- Serious Injuries: Wounds that result in a red segment on the life gauge and require curing must be kept under 20.
- Total Damage: You can only take 5 Life Bars or less worth of damage in your playthrough.
- Life Medicine: Players are forbidden to use Life Medicine during the playthrough.
- Special Items: You cannot use items like equipment or weapons that provide special abilities.
Successfully attaining the FOXHOUND rank will reward players with the EZ Gun (a special tranquilizer weapon), Infinity (infinite ammo face paint), and Stealth Camouflage (an invisibility/cloaking tool).
Completing the game with a FOXHOUND completion rank will unlock the FOXHOUND trophy as well.
Tips to Get the FOXHOUND rank in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Here are some of the best tips you can use to help your journey to attaining the FOXHOUND rank a bit easier.
- Complete the Game Once: It's recommended to complete the game once to learn all the enemy patterns, ammo drop locations, and best positions to hide to avoid alerts. It's also recommended to get all the essential camos, like the AT-Camo (Ghillie Suit), by finding all 64 GA-KOs. You can complete the FOXHOUND rank run in NG+.
- Skip Cutscenes: Watching cutscenes will be counted towards your game completion time. So, it's best that you skip them.
- Autosaves: While manual saves aren't allowed, each area creates an autosave that you can liberally use to restart a particular area if things go through. This will help you avoid restarting your complete run from scratch.
- Avoid Engagements: Some in-game areas allow Snake to simply progress ahead without engaging with enemies. Take advantage of these situations to avoid risking detection and save time.
- Taking Breaks: Attempting to get the FOXHOUND rank in your playthrough can be a tough ordeal. So, feel free to take a break by pausing the game. This pauses the overall completion timer, letting players relax before jumping back into the action.
