While there are plenty of Wordle clones and copycats out there, the original is on the New York Times Game site. All hints and rules in this article will be about this version.
Head to the website; it will have a five-by-six grid for players to type their guesses into.
Choose a starting word. It must be five letters long and a real English word. It cannot be one of the many potentially offensive words that the New York Times censored from the Wordle answer list.
Type the chosen word into the first row of the grid. Press enter. The letters' blocks will change color one at a time.
The colors of the letters are clues to the real answer: green letters are right, gray are wrong, and yellow are correct but in the incorrect place in the word.
Given these clues, players need to get to the answer before they run out of guesses.
Puzzles reset daily at midnight local time; this means there is only one puzzle per day for players, and everyone gets the same word.
