- Holland praises Nolan's work ethic, stating the movie will be unlike anything seen before, set for release on July 17, 2026.
Tom Holland has worked on some of the biggest films of all time—you don't star in four movies that have grossed over a billion dollars each by accident—but he is claiming his latest movie is bigger than all of them. Given the director he is working with, he just might be telling the truth.
After breaking through in projects like The Impossible, Wolf Hall, and In the Heart of the Sea, Holland became a full-fledged superstar overnight thanks to being cast as Spider-Man in 2016 Captain America: Civil War. The English actor has hardly slowed down since, making six appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, starring in other blockbusters like Uncharted, and executive producing his own projects like The Crowded Room. For someone who hasn't even turned thirty, the man's list of accomplishments is quite long. Throw in his headline-generating relationship with Spider-Man co-star Zendaya and it's safe to say Tom Holland has experienced the highs and lows of the Hollywood lifestyle over the past decade. All that being said, the man claims his latest film is a doozy compared to what has come before and if he is the one saying that, people should probably sit up and listen.
RUMOR: Spider-Man 4 Will Have A Primary Male Villain & Secondary Female Antagonist
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will reportedly have two new faces for Peter Parker to battle.
During a recent interview with GQ, Holland got to talking about Christopher Nolan's upcoming 2026 blockbuster The Odyssey. Perhaps unsurprisingly, working on a Nolan film is a bit different from the other big-budget projects Holland has worked on in his career. "It was amazing," he stated. "The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible." He went on to praise Nolan and his wife/producing partner Emma Thomas: "Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure. To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
Tom Holland Loved Working With Christopher Nolan On The Odyssey
In Other News, Water Is Wet
Christopher Nolan is about the only working director today who has carte blanche to do whatever he wants on a film set. Even legendary filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino don't have the freedom to do what Nolan does on the insane budgets he gets. Bringing in hit after hit with diverse subject matters has granted Nolan a privilege few people have ever had in Hollywood. It turns out being the man behind The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer can do that.
"It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen." - Tom Holland on The Odyssey
Let's put it this way: The Odyssey is the first blockbuster in history to be completely shot on IMAX film cameras. It has a cast that includes Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal (among many others). The production team shot on location in places like Morocco, Greece, and Iceland. With all due respect to the Russo brothers and Marvel Studios, Holland isn't simply talking out of his a** here.
Assuming what Tom Holland is saying about The Odyssey is true, then we can't wait for it to be released on July 17, 2026.
