Tom Holland is getting ready to film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the star has shared some interesting details about the upcoming Marvel movie.
Holland first appeared as the action hero in Captain America: Civil War in 2019 and then reprised the role in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, 2019's Avengers: End Game, 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home and 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Holland has a few compelling roles in the pipeline, including playing the main character's son Telemachus in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which he recently said was "the job of a lifetime." While fans can watch Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy in certain theaters this September, they're also excited about Brand New Day, and Holland's comments are fascinating to hear.

Tom Holland Talks About Spider-Man: Brand New Day And How Filming Will Be Different From The Previous Movie
In an interview with Flip Your Day (via Variety), Tom Holland discussed Spider-Man: Brand New Day and how this movie will be filmed in contrast to the last one. Holland described playing the action hero as "hanging out with an old friend" and said that Spider-Man: No Way Home was all shot on stages due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said:
"Now we’re really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow. We are gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”
While fans have been waiting a long time since No Way Home's 2021 release to see Brand New Day, Holland will start filming the movie in Glasgow, Scotland in August 2025. It will be interesting to see how the city is integrated into the gripping and action-packed story. Homecoming did a great job of showcasing New York City, and a memorable scene with the Vulture and Spider-Man takes place on the Staten Island Ferry.
Holland didn't share other details in the interview, but as Marvel actors aren't able to reveal much about their characters or plotlines, that's to be expected. Holland is no doubt being careful about the words he uses to describe the upcoming movie as, when he kept calling Spider-Man: No Way Home "brutal" during the press tour, some at Marvel Studios asked him to refrain from using that term. In his interview about what filming Brand New Day will be like, the actor also said he's "over the moon."
Spider-Man: Brand New Day also stars Zendaya as MJ and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Although it will be exciting to see this memorable character in this setting, fans are curious about how this will work. Considering this behind-the-scenes tidbit, though, this feels like it was meant to be. According to Variety, when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! In April 2025, Bernthal said he gave Holland some help when he made a tape to audition for Captain America: Civil War, and Holland did the same for Bernthal's audition for The Punisher.
Other cast members include Stranger Things star Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas, who is known for playing charming chef Tina on the FX/Hulu series The Bear. While fans have tried to guess who Sink is playing, her character is still a mystery.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 24th, 2026. It will be a summer of big releases as The Odyssey will be in theaters on July 17th, followed by Evil Dead Burn on July 24th.
